§ickening Realizations {Picastus Plot}

There was the razor blade, just sitting there on the counter. Present on the metal was a small bit of rust, stained as though the sharp utensil used to be a sword that cut through flesh, speckles of blood dancing on the surface. With its reflective quality, the blade stared back at icy blue eyes, watching the owner's movement. While it did not hiss or spew words that called out to the dark-skinned, little female, the mere appearance of its face taunted her. Deep inside, the razor wanted the girl to come close, to brush its body against her skin in any way she wanted. Just as long as it could stroke her epithelium and hack off any hair follicles.

She looked behind. Humming could be heard in the background as a liquid was gushing from an unknown source. Perking ears picked up on a sizzling sound, no doubt something being fried in a pan. Noticing her surroundings did not divert the mesmerizing looks the razor gave the girl. No matter what she did, the darker girl with her icy blue eyes could not stop being in a trance with the small metal tool that she had no knowledge of what its purpose was (at least, not until she got older).

As if by instinct, her hand reached over for the single slip of the blade, its rusty surface coating the mirror-like quality it had, the shine coming off of it despite being hampered by the red bits. Compelled to by sheer curiosity, the girl had placed the blade on her tongue, closed her mouth, and swallowed. She could feel the blade slide down her throat; and, eventually, she sensed something being caught in there. Wondering what object was now in existence, she coughed, hacked, and did whatever to bring out the stuff.

Red liquid; it did not feel like anything to her.

Nil aroused herself from an awkward sleep. Everything appeared to be black, with the exception of the hanging moon lingering over her. When her eyes finally adjusted to the darkness, the District 7 teenager noted the grass she was laying on. There was no bed. Instead, to her chagrin, the area she seemed to have been moved to now was also occupied by the various guests she had come aboard with - some missing due to sudden exposure to death.

"Oh hell no. Where is my fucking bed?" snarled a sleepy Nil, which prompted her sleeping brother to groan in his sleep. In her easy irritation, she gave a shove to Jaeman. "Wake up, lazy ass." Nothing. She remained on the ground until she could muster enough strength to get off the floor and inspect the new zone everyone seemed to be in; but, when she did, the girl found herself recapping all that happened when the wedding guests had split up, to survive the horrendous fires that consumed the hotel.

Yucca and her brother had kept her company during the intermission. Everyone else was not able to be located, having their own ways to rescue themselves. She did not want to - exactly - find other survivors; and, during a little adventuring of their own, they discovered a bed just lying out in the wilderness. Nil took the mattress and tried to sleep. Escalating events leading up to that point ruined any chance to slumber; yet, now, she had fallen asleep, obviously.

Why that was, though, failed to be answered in her head, only to cause more irksome feelings to rise from her chest. "My fucking bed... My fucking bed. My FUCKING luck!" What was a lucky convenience was now gone, and Nil stomped the ground in utter irritation, thinking many thoughts towards the one that must have moved them all to this single location.

My head ached as I walked over towards where Lucan was. The last thing I remembered was the fire in the hotel. Escaping through the door. Stopping at the beach. Being with Lucan and Ev. My memories stopped after that. Maybe only a few minutes had passed. However, the blotches of blood covering my body said differently. Lucan was the same. Others had the scarlet liquid on their bodies too. It sickened me. How did it happen? None of us knew or somebody would've spoken up. I turned towards Lucan, catching him just as he looked at me. His cheeks turned a light shade of red and so did mine after a bit. I looked away, trying to get a good look at our surroundings. That was until I heard the thump beside me, coming from the falling body of Lucan.

"What the hell? Lucan. Are you alright?" I drop down to my knees, my hand going right to his forehead to feel for any sign of a fever or something. "Lucan. Can you hear me? Lucan!" I shout, slapping him across the face lightly to try and wake him up. Everything was so scary here. There was a killer, that much I was certain of. I wasn't sure how much time had passed since the fire but the blood covering a lot of us said that something bad had happened. It was dried too, so it had to have time to dry up. I wasn't sure of anything. All I knew was that we needed to stick together. We needed to fight together. And we needed Lucan to band us together. He was the connection. He was what brought us all together. If not for Lucan and Ev, we wouldn't be here. So, we needed him.

I wanted to just run away. My life had been pretty boring. Nothing really scary happened, apart from my accident with the boat. That was the only thing that made me fear for my life. I didn't need to worry about getting killed or anything like that back at home. I had enough friends in District Four to know that somebody would have my back if I was threatened. But here on Piscatus Island, I only knew Gabby and Lucan. And I had slept with both of them. That's what worried me. I was wasting away my days by being the one Lucan cheated on his fiance with and worrying about what had happened between Gabrielle and I. My focus was on them and not on the situation. I needed to open my eyes a bit more and concentrate on what was happening to all of us. If I wasn't aware of everything around me, I could be killed at any moment. And that's the last thing I wanted to happen.

I looked around myself again, avoiding the looks from some of the people. I probably looked really obvious right now. So, I pushed myself back away from Lucan, allowing anybody else to help. I wanted to clear my head. I wanted to forget about all of this, not just the time between the fire and now. I wanted this to be over and if that meant that I'd be dead, maybe it was for the best. "Does anybody know how long it's been since the fire?" I asked. The memory of the fire pushed to the front of my mind. I saw the blood body hanging over us and then the brilliant flames that brought the building to the ground. I just wanted all of this to end. And what made it worse was that there was no end in sight.

Much anger boiled under Nil's skin. All the memories of the incident flowed in, and not a thing - with exception of tolerable Yucca and the good food - was pleasant. Even the wedding itself was a deplorable event she had to take a part in. She had everything up to a level - may that be a small level - of her tolerating anything; and, as of this moment, nothing could be taken in and digested as well. Nothing that anyone or anything could say or do in the next five seconds could change her opinion of the entire situation or what she felt.

At the moment Lucan said words, Nil could not deal with the people. Oh, fuck that." Now, she shouted, much to the warning chagrin of her brother. "No way in fucking hell I'm dealing with you people anymore." She turned her icy blues to Lucan, glaring. "Cuz, uncle, partner of my dad, whoever you are, I'm not taking shit from you or from anyone else but myself. I'm out of here."

She was walking away from the wedding guests, mad as a raging bull; but, before fully turning her back on the party, the dark-skinned girl had one last thing to say: "If the whole lot of you try to follow me, you're all as good as dead in my hands." With that, the girl was walking away.

In failure, Jaeman tried to call her back and stood amazed at the sight of his sister breaking off from the group. He was caught between survival and family, so he could think to move or to say anything to the wedding guests.
