The old man's looking for me again. I can hear his calls, "Dale! Dale get your ass out here and serve!" Is his favourite line he screams from the top of the staircase to the basement. He waits for a few moments before he repeats mumbling something under his breath about how he was gonna kick my ass when he found me.
To be honest, I'd like to see him try. He ain't young like he used to be. I think he would pull out both his hips chasing me around the restaurant. Wouldn't that be a sight to see! Almost tempting enough to have me crawl out from the small table that I hid beneath. But I knew that if I went out there then I would have to serve, and that would mean talk to customers and try and be nice, and I could not be bothered to deal with any Karens that might find themselves on one of my barstools-
The basement door opens again, Pop's booming voice echoing in the dim light. "I named the burger of the day Ridiculously HUGE burger!" Oh, hell no!
I knew it was a rouse, and I tried to ignore it, flipping through the pages of the magazine.
"The Ridiculously HUGE burger! How good!" He taunts and my teeth clench.
It was a bloody stupid name and he knew it and he knew that I knew.

"The Ridiculously HUGE burger!" I scream out as I jump from my hiding place, hands on hips as I glare at Pops. "Where has your creativity gone? Has age started taking your beauty and your brain?" I begin to march up the stairs slipping past him and his smug face.
"Don't be rude, son," he says lightly, ruffling my hair roughly.
"I'll go up there, but I am choosing the name. It won't be an embarrassment to this family business."
"That's fine, Dale. But nothing rude. Or Vulgar."
"Don't worry, old man, I got this." At the top of the stairs, I pull open the door for the kitchen. Gina's at the stove, flipping burgers, though from the look on her face I wouldn't be surprised if most were getting burnt meat. She was in Gina day dreamland, and from the look in her eye, she was thinking about that weirdo from across the street.
"Stooop thinking about his butt Gina! You're burning the burgers!"
"Huh- what I'm not! Go away, Dale!"
Smirking skip past her, giving Ma a small smile as I climb onto the countertop in front of the whiteboard. With my sleeve I wipe off the ridiculous name that Pop wrote up, mumbling my disapproval. Quickly I scramble down the new Burger of The day: Rack off, this my Beef Burger Mate! I lean back, studying my work for a moment longer before I give a satisfied grunt and slip from the countertop. "what do you think, Ma?" I ask just as the bell rings, the door opening to one of the most beautiful girls I had ever seen.
"Woah," I mutter under my breath. "I got this one, Ma." Pulling out a couple of menus I plaster my face with a wide cheeky grin. "Hey there," I greet, placing a menu down on the countertop between us, "can I get you a Rack off, this is my Beef Burger Mate! to start?"
