I didn't blame Ty at all for fleeing the bloodbath right away. It kept him safe, after all. It was probably the wisest decision he could make, as long as he had sponsors to rely on to get him what he needed, and it appeared that that did seem to be the case. He had ended up with a bag, a canteen and some iodine tablets from a generous sponsor (or perhaps a few different sponsors, I hadn't really been able to tell). He also managed to find a few things while wandering the arena.

Honestly, I couldn't imagine how terrifying it had to be to be in the arena. The only reason I would ever want to go in there would be to prove something to the Capitol, but what would I be proving if I didn't win? That the Hopes were only capable of dying?

If I were to have gone in and won, though— that would be a completely different story. I could show them that a person who hates the Capitol and expresses that in the arena every chance she gets can still win. I suppose I'm a bit more anti-Capitol than most people can tolerate, though. One of the career tributes would probably try to off me for not shutting up about it, and I suppose that's why I will probably never decide to volunteer.

Ty volunteered, though. I'm not sure where the Hope family continues to source its bravery from, seeing as every single time a Hope family member has become a tribute in the Hunger Games, they've died. Not a single one of us has survived. That's a zero percent survival rate, in case you're wondering. I like to think that maybe Ty can change that, but I can't guarantee it, so I try not to get my hopes up. Hopes. That wasn't meant to be a pun or a play on words, yet here we are. I'm not really a jokester. Not usually, anyway.

After Ty escaped the bloodbath, I kept an on him and what he was doing as he trekked through the arena. I wanted to see how this would go. I really didn't want to see him die, though. Why should I care, you may ask. I don't know him from anything. I just know that he's family, at least in some sort of way.

Well, I guess it's because if I can't prove anything myself, I want him to prove something. I want him to prove that the Hopes are worth something more than just Games fodder. We aren't just here to die for the Capitol's entertainment. We're here to prove we're strong, and maybe Ty can show that we're meant to be victors, too.
