Hiya folks 👋

For a long time now, pretty much ever since I won with Avriel, I knew that I eventually wanted him to grow a little band of misfits. A few of you have approached me before, asking to create a character for Avriel and I would love that! (Sort of)

I'd love if you would just make a character for you, one that Avriel could get to know over time who is also dear to your heart. This character should have a couple posts under their belt before they even meet Avriel. I don't want to sound elitist by requesting that btw!

Here's an explanation, scroll past if you don't care:

I've done a lot of writing with Avriel at this point. When you write a character that much, they shift and change and become something a little different. I'm sure y'all have experienced this. The thing with Avriel though is that he doesn't need more instability in his life, he's a really unstable character and so I'm hoping for characters that are as quirky as him but who are dimensional too. The best way to uncover these dimensions is through discovery via writing.

td;lr: when your character meets Avriel, I want them to be complex and I want you to feel comfortable leading threads with them. If you'd like a further explanation on what I mean, please dm me on slack, I'd be happy to talk this out.

Avriel's misfits should come from all over nine, from any walk of life. They can be from large families or small, from rich or poor, it doesn't matter. The only thing they need to be is genuine. Avriel is pretty picky about who he lets into his life and if he doesn't feel comfortable with your character it's just gotta be a no go!

So there are some risks involved in this plot. We'll be writing things out naturally, there will be no established history between Avriel and your character unless otherwise discussed. If they don't get along, they just don't! No harm no foul, silver lining is you'll have a new district 9 character.

There are some key players that I'm looking for. Please keep in mind that these are vague outlines.

school acquaintance / friend #1

Avriel stopped going to school for the most part around 16, when his parents disappeared. (He won the games at 17 and never returned to school. That being said, before he disappeared, he did have some people he'd hang around with. Nothing serious though, never really let anyone in except Billy and Duke, so they might remember Avriel as this calm, quiet friend that wasn't super talkative but seemed content. This person could either hold a grudge against Avriel for dropping off the face of the earth or simply miss them, which causes them to go and seek Avriel out. I see this person as Av's 'closest, if not only, childhood friend.

school acquaintance #2

Like above, this person has probably known Avriel since elementary school but never interacted much with him when they were in school. They were fine with Av hanging around but thought he was kind of weird seeing as he didn't talk much and was always taking things in the classroom apart. In high school they always ended up in opposite groups and leaning towards popularity, they eventually let Avriel drift away. That always made them feel a little guilty, especially after the Baptiste's parent's disappeared, but the crushing weight of needing to be liked kept them from ever reaching out.

heavy crown pal #1 - calla

This person is just a rich heir who can't take the pressure anymore and just wants to do their weird little hobbies. The first time they meet avriel, they don't even tell him their real name because they like the anonymity it gives them. This character is related to a prominent D9 family, a district official or it's up to you. An ex-gang member, they're now on the run from their own gang with nowhere to go. The only card they have is that they have one of Avriel's bombs, deactivated. Perhaps it's time for a little bit of blackmail. This relationship won't be easy as this character should be loud, perhaps domineering and also prefers to use a mask when it comes to emotions.

Ta da! I'm open to other misfits too, I just didn't want to get too detailed. You're welcome to come back at me with other ideas. They don't have to technically fit in with Avriel either, the more varied the relationship the better! You can even create whole new plots to work with this.

+ I'm also just looking for rping with Avriel in 9 so if you have an established character in Nine and would like to thread, please let me know as well! <3

+ And another thing, any threads with Avriel will be set after the 89th games, there will be no going back to slot in a relationship because I've written too much with Av. I also want to write him losing a few more things, I want to hit rocky rock bottom, so that may require a couple months of writing on my part, which is why now is a good time to get this rolling! (Let's shoot for threading mid 90th+!)
