joints for your mourning [pepperwoods]

Thad's been gone for what feels like ages now, even though it's been only a couple of years. I've tried to get away from smoking a bit since he's been gone, but it doesn't seem to be working. I've been mourning too hard to stop my vices. I need distractions, or I sink back down into a not-so-good mental place. Part of the reason I've wanted to be better about smoking is because I feel like it makes the time I spend with my brothers a little less quality, but I can't help it. It's how I've always been able to cope.

I guess I shouldn't have made him the offer. I shouldn't have approached one of my younger brothers and offered him weed, but I guess that's just how it went anyway. We'd all been hit kind of hard by Thad's death, and although I wasn't sure how well my brothers were coping, be it better or worse than me, I figured maybe I could help them out by sharing some of what helped me.

"Want some?" I offered to the brother sitting closest to me, holding out my joint. What harm could it do?
