All of it was planned.

Georgie was currently taking a nap after some coddling from himself. It took some time, but Teddy had gotten her to sleep. The dining room table had been cleaned carefully. Teddy's alone at home with Parson and Georgie and so far, everything's gone according to plan. His siblings are at their respective schools and jobs. It's the perfect time to strike, but trying to do so without suspicion was important. Ever since the 80th, he's been worried his overbearing attitude towards Parson was pushing his friend away. He just cared too much about him and didn't want to lose him again.

Nothing was harder than that day.

It's when Parson comes into the room that Teddy strikes. A comfortable cup of coffee for himself in one hand and another one for Parson in the other. He had pulled out the largest mugs he could find just for them. The nerves were starting to get to him, but he spoke out carefully. "Hey, Parson! I got you a cup." His voice feels foreign, but he doesn't try to show he's nervous. Teddy Ursa had done many other things that he should have been more nervous about, but approaching Parson about this subject, well, he's a terrified man.

"Oh, don't worry about Georgie! She's taking a nap. Maybe we could, uh talk or hang out or whatever."

Was it wrong of him to be scared of his childhood best friend turned tribute turned zombie turned back to best friend?

No.

He still was scared.

"I just have been wondering about uhm some things."

It is starting the creep up, the ten-year anniversary…of my death. There is an opened invitation in an envelope on the top of my drawers upstairs. They have planned a reunion…for all twenty-three of us. Honestly, I am surprised it is not less. And do I really want to go? The big answer is no. Except the little tingling in my heart keeps calling his name. My Angel. It has been ten years, there can’t be anything there anymore. We both probably have lives. Just like the one I am trying to build for Georgie and me.

I am enjoying having my job back again, but my pockets are not as heavy as I would like them to be. So far, I can only afford a one-bedroom apartment above a shop for us both. I need two bedrooms, at the minimum but three would be ideal. Somewhere with a garden, away from the pollution on the centre of the District but not too far from everyone close to us.

I have been in my bedroom for most of the morning, tidying up, doing the important adult stuff. At least I don’t own much, we won’t need many boxes for when we eventually move.

Caffeine is calling. It is probably the hardest drug I have now, still the occasional drink but I have responsibilities that I cannot break and well the experiments they did on me six years ago keep leaving me with side effects. At least I am properly cured…I think.

Teddy is in the dining room, already with two mugs in hand. There is something seriously wrong with him though. He has that awkward look on his face. ”What’s up, Ted?” I take the mug from him, sitting down at the table opposite. ”Wondering about what?” Oh god, he is going to have one of those talks with me. It is probably about the anniversary. Like yes, I was dead, there was some trauma, but I am alive now. I am over it. He needs to get over it.

Ten year ago, he had broken down.

Lost sight of who he was and what his life meant. Parson Cham had always been apart of his life, even during the times when everything was hazy and the world forgot about the eldest son of the Ursa Family. There's always been a piece of him that wanted to protect Parson, a piece of him that loved Parson like family, and a piece of him that was terrified to lose him once more. The conversation was in the back of his head. The idea of Parson ever wanting to leave scared him, but he also knew it was okay to let him go if that's what he wanted. His home would always be Parson's, even if he's to step out of that door and never come back.

Parson Cham would always be allowed to stay in their home.

"What’s up, Ted?"

The mug leaves his hand as Parson sits opposite to him. There's a softer look to him now. Georgie and life has changed his friend for the better. A soft smile on his lips as he looks into his own mug, staring in the reflection of the coffee; his tousled hair poking out in strange directions, but he swallows the nerves down.

"Wondering about what?"

Ten years and it still feels nerve-wracking to discuss important things. His heart always worries for his friend and the man's been through enough hell. "Well, I know the ten year anniversary is coming up and I just worry about you. Overly so. I-I just..." Swallowing down the words, he stops for a second before pulling his hand back away from the mug. "I want you to know that my home is always going to be your home. If you ever feel like leaving, you're free to, but I want you to know this place is always going to be your home too." His eyes glance towards the back where Georgie is; hoping it gets the point across that if Parson needed more room for Georgie, he's free to get it. Teddy would even buy a place for him if needed.

"I just want you to know. I know Georgie is getting older and I worry that you don't feel capable enough here, but you're always welcome here and I want you to stay, but I also think I need to let you know it's okay if you need to leave too. I-I know I can be a bit overprotective."

There is always my dad’s house, but it is a little run down, he refuses any kind of money from me to help better his life. The man is retired now, rotting away in that house without a care in the world. I visit now and then, show him his granddaughter but the visits are always short. It is him who always cuts the conversations and ushers us out as he has things to do. What ever that is. Just sitting in his leather sunken chair, festering away unbathed and unkempt. I have offered my help. It was refused. So just like my dad, I give up too.

I am just waiting for the peacekeepers to knock on my door and give me that message. It will probably be a relief to us both.

Then there is Teddy, the opposite. A friend who sees himself as a guardian angel to everyone around him. It is like winning a game of killing kids has given him a new purpose in life. I just sip on the coffee as he rambles on. Yeah, I have mentioned it a few times, about finding my own place. And now with what I am having to sit through, Teddy does not want to see the back of us.

”I know we are kind of going to become a burden here. You have your own family that is going to grow, mine is growing too. Do you really want Georgie here when she hits puberty?” Or do I really want to be left alone with a teenage girl in puberty? I can handle it. I will handle it. ”We are both adults now Teddy, these ten years have been great but I will be 30 soon. I think it is time I need to go. I am not leaving you entirely, I just won’t be in the same four walls as you.”
