when hope is gone {kaplan / JB blitz}

The world feels as though it's stopped moving, and each heartbeat feels like an eternity as Canvas stares out the window of the room hidden within the justice center. Surely someone will come to say goodbye given his rather large family, but he doesn't know if that will ring true. Out of every Hope living in district eight, this unlucky teenager called him out.

Why?

Canvas doesn't know, yet he rattles his brain looking for any solution to the equation, but he doesn't find an answer. There isn't an answer to describe the horrendous atrocities that took place today. Thinking about the past won't change anything. All he can do now is look at the future.

Whatever that may be.

He finally sits down in a chair after slamming his fist into a table, and he waits. Anger won't change what happened. It won't undo the past. It won't bring him home alive. No. It'll simply give him the motivation needed to keep on going. It'll give him the hope to live another day as the world comes crumbling down. Anger isn't the answer.

Tempus Dean has another thing coming, and Canvas has the desire to return home alive to destroy the man who tried to destroy him.
