You feel different at night.

When the full moon is at its peak and the sky is jet-black, with only stars illuminating the emptiness. You feel stronger, almost, like every sense, every movement is more heightened from your original transformation.

It's a different kind of power you wield, the kind that's entangled with your bones, it's in the sinew and your blood. In a way, it's you. You're the power, not the shadow-stained shovel in your hand. You make sure to not let that go to your head, though, you know first-hand what power does to people's minds. It makes them believe they are made of fire and steel, ichor coursing through their veins as if they were a god. But men bleed. They bleed crimson red, their skin stretched thin, easily wounded. You know your limits, it's a good trait to have, especially in the place like this.

Day comes quickly, rapidly, but the sky is still hazy and cloudy, just a little sunlight peeking through. However, as the moon falls and the sun rises over the horizon, your body can feel the change. Not weaker, just less. A sort of emptiness inside, a longing for something. You keep your guard up in case, don't want anything to catch you in a vulnerable state. It'd be a cardinal sin to die because of an emotion.

You see the crimson falls from the shoreline of the shadow lake. That's your next move, you decide. The girl from four, Elle, was a change of pace from your lone wolf act, but you'd prefer to stay in the shadows, away from everyone. Those that can see you, at least. It's easier for you to gain knowledge, to observe when you fade into the background. In this case, fade into the arena. Become a part of its landscape and drink up its all-knowing knowledge.

The crimson, almost blood-like, waterfall doesn't feel like a real, tangible thing when you lay your dark eyes on it up close. You stare up at it wide-eyed, feeling minuscule in comparison. There's a dry patches of land on either side, pockets of dead grass and lively blue flowers surrounding them. You toss your crossbow, the bolts, and the other items you have on your body over there, not wanting them to get wet. You keep the gripped shovel in one hand, the claws make it troublesome to have it firmly held. You make your way closer, walking steadily, the mud thick and sinking around your ankles.

You stop, though. There's a strange smell in the air, you tip your head towards the sky and let your nose breathe it in. You cringe, flinching away when the smell fills your nostrils. It burns, slightly. Your eyes tear up, not being able to adjust to the scent. It's a strange, tangy smell. Like copper, like blood. You look towards the vivid, cerise-colored waterfall, treading through the thick mud that clings and tugs at your boots. You get closer to the edge of the water, your eyes peering down at it. It's thick, non-translucent. It's not water, it's blood. A river of blood.

A searing pain pulsates from the side of your stomach, followed by chittering, click-like sounds from behind you. You whip your head around, towards the noise, and there's a blur of things in front of you. It's a group of creatures, jet-black, and each one the size of one of your legs. You grip the splintering, wooden handle of the shovel tighter, only to find your grip empty, a void. It's sinking to the depths of the thick river of blood. Figures.

Your mind moves quickly to find a way out, rapid thoughts and solutions being jumbled in your brain. You look down at your claws and a primordial rush courses its way through your veins.

You're the power.
