"Are we lost?" Cantara snarls as soon as they've scrambled behind some boulders, putting a wall of sorts between them and the others. She throws down her drawstring bag. Draws herself up as best she can. Takes a sip of air and then pushes her snout right into Cash's pale face. "Or did you deliberately lead us back to them?"

The words come out in a rush. And she can't help it; she has to breath in again. She's so angry, so fed up, so tired of second guessing everything. She knows better than to breathe in through her nose so close to the Falls but her body is as tired as her mind and so she takes a deep breath in through her wolfish snout --

And chokes on the metallic scent of blood.

She lands on her rump on a slick rock, practically choking on the air itself. Her elbows come to rest on knees, claws and head dangling. After a moment she draws a ragged breath. "I need. At least. Fifty yards. From that." She points accusingly at the cascading Falls.

She spits. Slowly lifts her yellowed eyes to Cash's. "And maybe from you too."

I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE.

As the boy from eight falls, my brain catches up with my body. The weight it feels, the gravity that wants to pull me to the ground, is so strong. I just want to lie down and rest, but I can’t do it here. It’s too dangerous. All I can do as the weakened pup is follow my pack out of that battle. Weak, disheveled, and knowin’ that I’m not the wolf I thought I was. I’m weaker than they think. Weaker than what I thought.

Soon enough, we’re behind some bigger rock. She snarls.

"Are we lost?"

Of course we are. I doubt we know where we’re goin, anyway. We only have our noses to save us. The girl heaves, catching her breath before her snout immediately meets the other tributes’ face.

"Or did you deliberately lead us back to them?"

Her delusion, her worry, makes me nervous. How can I trust the girl? How can I trust the guy?

SHE IS LOSING HER SHIT

Part of me wonders if I should wait until they’re asleep. Flee in the night because all I have had with these two are fights. I don’t know if I can take another. I hear a snort and a cough as she lands. "I need. At least. Fifty yards. From that." A ragged, tired claw raises to point at the rushing waters that I passed on day one. Cantara looks at the boy and spits. "And maybe from you too." Her anger toward the boy also made me weary. If her distaste for the male is this strong, I know I must be careful.

DON’T FUCK THIS LOONY BITCH OVER.

I can’t do anythin’, I can hardly register much else than the ache in my lungs. As hard as it may be, all I can do is let my guard down, and rest. I can’t find the strength to do much more.
