Dream of a Mountain - Harbinger AU GoT

I raise the glaive blocking the sword before getting a swing in on my own. Of course, it's terrifying, and my heart is racing, and all I want is to run away, but the Mountain is blocking my way out, and I'll never get around him unless I can do something for myself. I have to get my back towards the door, and then all I need to do is slowly back away. Hearing the crowd, and listening to them cheering for my opponent, and hearing them grumbling when I block his blow makes me smile. I'm used to being the underdog. I'm used to being scrappy. I'm from district eleven, and I won the games, not that it's uncommon, but it's still something that I need to use to my advantage.

I carefully make eye contact, and I'm moving my feet before I even realize what's happening. The glaive is steady in my hand, and everything I've ever wanted is right in front of me. It's a final challenge, a final task, and then I can share with the entire world, that I defeated this man if he's even a man. I take a breath, and I'm watching his movements. Watching, and waiting, and that got me the win before, and now I need it to help me now. I need this strategy to work. It's all I have, and I know it's all that I need.

We both barely do any damage, and I can tell the crowd is getting more invested again, and that means I need to pick it up. Of course, he's damaged beyond repair, and knowing that he's unable to use his right arm makes it easier for me. I still have to be patient. I still have to watch his movements so I can counter act them, and all while we're doing this, I keep moving closer and closer to that door. The easiest thing to do is to simply figure out how to make this glaive work so that I can kill him. My mind is racing, my heart is pounding rapidly inside my chest. I take a breath allowing myself to focus once more. I can do this.

I limp around trying to make sure everything is right, but it's hard to put my weight on my leg, and it's hard because I already have a bad leg anyway. I know I'll need some stitches, but for now, I must make sure that I am doing everything I can in order to win this fight. I want to be the best, the very best, and this will prove my strength. When the Mountain starts moving again, I'm preparing myself to move the opposite way. It's a way to win since I already have the advantage.

The advantage I had is slipping away, and it's hard to even do anything right at the moment. My head is throbbing, and it's hard to hold it up, it's hard to focus on my opponent, but hearing the one loan person shouting for me in a crowd that's supporting the Mountain makes me keep going strong because I refuse to let this one person down. But the pain feels almost unreal. It's hard to think, focus, do anything because my body is on fire, yet I push the thoughts away. Nobody will ever see how much pain I am in. Nobody will ever know, so I grit my teeth and raise the glaive once more, and this time he blocks my attack completely.

We're evenly matched now, and I knew the moment I cut off his arm that he would come back with a vengeance, but I wasn't expecting this. I never thought it would hurt as bad as it is. I raise the glaive once more. We're close to the end, we're almost finished, and I don't want to be the loser. I just need to keep going, I need to find the strength to keep fighting when all hope is almost gone. I've been here before, I've been here before, and I know what I'm capable of, and it's time to prove it.
