She closed her eyes and strained her ears.

There wasn't a single cannon, not one.

Leonora forced herself to block the sounds of the mutts roaming the grove and the chatter of her allies nearby figuring out what to do next.

But there was nothing but silence.

That couldn't be right. She saw the crimson stained ground, smelled the iron in the air, and heard the echo of screams throughout the grove. There had to be at least one death, at least one tribute who wasn't able to make it out alive.

She had to be at least one step closer to surviving.

She just had to.

"I'll be right back..." she muttered as she grabbed her weapon but left her bag and the other supplies she gathered during the Bloodbath. It was her way of telling them she was coming back, but a way to help support them if she didn't. Words were left unspoken.

But it was easier that way.

Quietly, she made her way back towards the Cornucopia, taking the same path they ran from and using the smears of blood on grass for guidance. Leo tiptoed through the underbrush, doing her best to stay concealed. All she needed was a sneak pick, a quick moment to confirm her suspicions.

The commotion was over by the time she arrived. Nothing left but the whispers behind the archway that sang to her once more. The ground looked as she remembered, trampled and bloodstain, with forgotten items scattered about. It was empty.

"Not even one," she mumbled while concealing herself behind a bush.

Not a corpse in sight.
