They had a good thing going; Ulysses, Jayson, Torian, and until recently, Caspian. It seemed Caspian's demise had produced a snowball effect, and now he was worried he would never find the others again. Going at it alone was not something he had prepared himself for so early. These boys were supposed to be his safety net until - until something happened, perhaps Torian died or - he didn't really know how he pictured the ending. It wasn't with a crown upon his head, that's for sure.
What did he expect?
Ulysses words and Lillybird's words played tennis in his head. It created the worst of headaches, but nothing in comparison to the burning in his skin. Now that he was distanced from the chaos, the adrenaline was wearing off and he was feeling again. That was the worst part.
"Ouch..."
He gritted his teeth and sought shelter in the trees. There were cannons firing, but he couldn't see anybody from here. It did not ease his troubles about Ulysses or Jayson. Surely they could handle themselves, right? Was Torian the only one that had been hypnotized by weird fairies?
How embarrassing that would be.
Until he felt it was safe, Torian decided to remain here. He would consume his cake in peace, and tend to his injuries in peace. Surely, one of them would find him...
Right?
