I hadn't seen Flynn for a few months, the games monopolizing his time, in addition to the young victor simply pushing anyone and everyone away. Pop's had mentioned he had been in with the latest victor, Torian. Pop's had also said that the boy seemed to have more of a skip in his step than the last time he saw him. It had been a while since Flynn Garner had had a skip in his step... In fact, the last time had been when he had been secretly dating that mystery boy, Johnny Scaletta.
And then Johnny had died, and I had rumors from the Capitol about Flynn's meltdown... Since then, I had barely seen him. I had been wanting to ask him why he had never mentioned the boy to me. I had also wanted to know why he had shut me out. Did he not see me as someone he could confide in? Did he still see me as the boy who refused to take life seriously?
And now I wanted to know who was responsible for that skip in his step. I had pressed Pop's for more details on this newfound lightness in my friend's step, but my op's had just shrugged it off, eager to get back to flipping his burgers.
The bell rings, and I look up from the counter that I had been longing on, my lips pulled back into a wide grin. "Well, if it isn't the man, the myth, the legend, Flynn bloody Garner!" I jump over the counter, wrapping a hand around his shoulder, "how the hell are you, stranger?"
