Berrium Deep
Crisp wind kicked around stray dust. The cabinet sat at the foot of the garden, resting. "Sleep well, countertop" said the small Berrium.
She'd walked for a good mile before she reached a quaint stable. No people. Peace welcomed her in with open arms.
Here, she laid into the hay and laughed to herself. Thoughts on how the cabinet suffered the injuries it did. Why did tick in the cold, like a clock? Her hands strained as though bitter from the breeze, so she tucked them inside her dark overcoat and nestled herself politely.
From the back of the stable came Nay. She was an older horse that clung to every step as though they were hurdles. "Hey there," she beckoned to her. "Have I stole your spot?"
She stood to pet the lady with a placid palm in a familiar way. The crest of Nay's head was bristly, but warm. It stayed off the cold and retained heat all the same. "My dear, you're gonna be with a while yet, huh?" She smiled into the beautiful beast's glistening eye. She felt a smile in return, before taking herself away.
Then, she heard a stick, or something, crack from behind the stable. "Who's there?" she called out, ducking behind a wooden crate that sat nearby.
