Legacy Killers [Silas vs Atticus HG Sim]

The sound of the axe coming down into him rings in his ears, but there's no pain. Only the jump of surprise as his own father strikes into him; sending him stumbling back onto his butt. The loud smack of his own silver spear having not made it. A swipe through the air and all Silas can feel is his heart. There's no smile now. No time for jokes. No time for laughs. The static in his ears grows as Silas feels his hands grip tighter to the spear. No one shows him up. Not even his great father who's kept him safe all these years. The same man who raised him to laugh despite the dark pieces of the world. "Seriously? You all expect me to fight my dad?" No one comes to his rescue. There's an empty silence as he sighs in frustration. Looking towards his father, when he was younger, but still older than himself. Silas burns with the hum of fear.

"Fine. Guess this is the only way out." Back on his feet, he brushes off the dust from the ground off of his warm coat. "Sorry dad." Rushing forward, he swings the spear as he holds his ground. Memories of eating breakfasts at home; the sweet smell of pancakes in the air. The flash of a younger Silas throwing a snowball in the snow. Laughing away with his sister and brother as their father watches with a smile. A tree being decorated for a holiday; the house being trailed with paper snowflakes and proper tinsel everywhere. Giggles set into the wood, as the excitement of the holidays would rise. All of that flashes in a moment as those blank, hollow eyes stare at him.

"This isn't cool! Someone please stop it!" Only the pixelized Atticus comes for him, he stumbles backward, trying to pivot away, but there's nowhere to run. Instead he screams a shrill of an embarrassing scream as he holds the spear out, hoping to block wherever the axe is coming from. Look, give him a break, he's just a fourteen year old and has lived in the most technological advanced district in Panem. He's no fighter. Never has been.

Blow for blow; the edge is set off. Clambering over his own feet, he's barreling through the hologram visage of his dad from the games. Spear cutting into the arm, almost a flickering of static as if the hologram felt the damage, but there's nothing to show. The pixel form swings into his back, going completely through as a ping from somewhere signifies damage or something. He wasn't any sort of tech genius. All he could feel was the spear in his hands and the confusion and anger bubbling. If this pixel form of his dad wanted to fight, he'd give him one. Usually, it was always jokes and laughs. Cutting people down with words was more of his speed, but he's the one who wanted to swing a weapon to be closer to his dad. The choice was his own and god does he regret making that choice now.

Slinking back up, he turns around to be face to face with his dad who's lanky and a teenager. Gritting his teeth, he rushes forward with a bit of a cry on his lips. "AHHHHHH!" The pixel form doesn't react. Instead it's got a confident look; a dimple poking out as if his father would enjoy violence. Annoying. All of this was annoying. Only, he swings the spear, expecting the axe to come for him. Keeping his head in the game, he needed to remember he's faster and smaller. Go for the legs and his father will topple, just like most adults did when he was younger. Silas had learned that when he'd first attacked his daycare leader back in kindergarten.

"Just stop this! Go down already!" He shouts as the spear flies forward. Atticus' form stutters out a response, but the static catches it almost as if the program itself is a bit buggy. Someone must've messed up some chords probably. "This is harder than it looks." A victor. He's never seen his father as something akin to victorhood. Probably from all the quietness he held with that, but he could see it now. The way his father was fighting right now was incredibly terrifying. Silas will have to think better next time he's getting in trouble. If his dad could be like this, he didn't want to see that side of him any time soon.

"You've met your match, dad!"

Silas can't help the small giggle he lets out after his words.

Like two different comets, their weapons arch away. Momentum sending Silas falling farther down into his emotions; bolstered by the amount of thoughts soaring through his mind. Buzzing away as if his mind were the static of a television, he's lost. Wanting to just be the best son he could be, even if he's a bit of a pain. Humor is what keeps the world from feeling dark; as empty as the black sky of the night. Flustered by his own swing, he catches himself on the opposite side. Locked into a stance as he swivels the spear over his shoulder and back towards the pixel form of his father. "I-I... We..." It's broken off by the sound of static; empty words and hollow eyes never speaking.

The way his heart thrums is loud; just like a swampland, never resting. Too many thoughts forming and dissipating before him. Is this what he always wanted to know? His father had killed. And what for? Silas wouldn't understand. Not now. Probably not ever. Except, he wanted to. God, he wanted to know what scared his father so he could protect him. Make him smile more despite the uncomfortable parts. Be able to look at him and say he's proud, to say he's happy, to say he's good. It's all Silas has ever wanted in the world. Seeking it out in combat seemed a bit more ridiculous than before. Dropping back, he pulls the coat from his form. Sweat dripping down his brow as Silas is left in the tight sweater he'd thrown on before.

"I trust you." Charging forward with the spear, he lifts it up trying to use the point to catch his hologram father off guard. The axe is swung with the same speed and intensity as before. A dimple similar to his own when he cracks jokes filling his vision. Voice caught in his throat with a crack; another sign of his age. "Why can't you trust me?" It's silver that glitters in the dark; just as the stars were hung, Silas wants to rip them out of the dark. Let the light shower him in whatever answer he's looking for.

"I can be strong. Ju-Just like you! Watch me! I-I'll show you!"
