He watched her die, swung his weapon just to feel the nails dig into flesh.
He knows he's not much more than a walking contradiction at this point, boy born to run and forced to kill, destined to die- no other choice in the matter but to comply. Bennie nuzzles his face as if to tell him he's still there, that there is something still worth living for, that he's anything more than a wolf in sheep's clothing waiting to be taken out.
White knuckles, wrapped around wood until it feels as if his palm will split in two. He knows what he is, knows what he has done.
Too far gone to come back, too unkempt to pull back from the edge.
He holds his weapon in tight grip for the rest of the night, just to feel it in his grasp, just to know what it can do- what he can do.
