No Regrets [Agatha vs. Lions & Tigers] (Day 2)

He answered her question promptly before returning his attention back to the tribute in which he was now pleading with not to attack. Will. It had a certain ring to it, but she couldn't see herself constantly addressing him as so. All her friends had had names. They were dead in one way or another. A name for him would come to her soon enough. Clarisse watched as he severed the girl named Agatha's left hand. Her piercing scream was far worse then the sight of the blood spilling from her stump and forehead. Well, maybe not.

Clarisse inhaled deeply as the two of them watched the girl die. Will seemed a bit upset by it. "Come on." She spoke emotionlessly, not caring about the girl. Only that she hadn't delivered the blow. Whatever. The same alliance returned to their temporary camp by the creek. Clarisse sat down on a rock and addressed him. "You knew her then?" She tried to sound sympathetic, but it was hard then she remembered it being. How had she managed it all that time with Veronica?

While he spoke, she took the time to dip her falchion into the water. She used a part of her shirt to wipe off the blood and clean it, not caring if her shirt was ruined. She set it on the rock her body rested on only moments ago, and approached the water. For a moment, the reflection scared her. She had been so unaware. For a year she'd avoided mirrors, and even here in the games, she had never really bothered to actually look at her reflection. But now it sent chills up her spine.

An empty hole was staring back at her. When she looked, she no longer thought of her hair as passion or fire, but as blood. Her eyes no longer bore colour, they looked dead. And her face had never been so pale. Perhaps she had spent far too long cooped up in the lab and her room over the year. Either way, this girl was not Clarisse. But there was no Clarisse anymore, was there?

"You think it's safe to drink?" Previously, she had already filled up a container, but had yet to drink it. She was still taking precautions. "Did you grab anything from the cornucopia that could purify it maybe?" She turned to look at him, and the growling of her stomach reminded her that she hadn't eaten in almost two days. "Do you mind if I have some of those plants you collected earlier? The edible ones?"

When Will handed her an iodine tablet, it was a hell of a lot better than what she was expecting. She dropped it into the jug she had filled up earlier and closed the top. It'd be almost an hour until it was safe to drink. But she could wait that long. Her fingers picked up some mud and spread it across the jug. It was only she could think to do to mark it. That was the one the was purified. Clarisse filled up the other jug and set it down. She filled up the third as well.

He handed her some of the plants and she nodded in thanks. She set them aside, planning to eat them later. But she broke off some and shoved it into her mouth to fufilled the need she felt to chew something. It tasted partly bitter, but she chewed on it anyways. Anything was better than nothing at all. She glanced up as Will spoke. He started to laugh. Not just a chuckle, but a full out laugh.

Clarisse stared at him and watched. It was different in real life. Watching people lose their sanity. When you watched the Games on television it seemed sad. But here, it seemed eerie. She wanted to hit the boy and make it stop, but she resisted the urge. He probably needed a laugh. She could probably use one too, but that emotion came at unexpected times, and now was not one.

As his laughs died down, she stood up and walked over to, placing her hand on his forehead. No fever. But she had to check and make sure. For her sanity. She wanted to see if maybe there was a cause for his outburst. But no. Just the capitol's doing.

She sat back down and addressed him, unsure why she did it. She felt the urge to attack someone or something. Clarisse liked the feeling the adrenaline gave her when her gaurd was up and her senses heighted. She liked not knowing what was going to happen. If she would live. If they would. But here, she had a strange sense of peace, which she hadn't had in a very long time. And to have it in the games was something she never expected.

What was happening to her? "Do you plan on making it back? Home, I mean. Surviving."

Clarisse watched the boy struggle with the thought. Her face showed little emotion, and she didnt really care. But she was trying act like she did, she couldn't let him think he had that heartless of an ally. Her eyes followed him as he filled up his water jug and she could see the termoil on his face. He still had not answered her question. Her hands rested, intertwined on her lap as she sat on the boulder. The moment Will sat down to rest, a tear spilled out fro his eye.

At first Clarisse was clearly taken aback. He was.. crying? At a time like this? It had been a very long time since she had cried. Night since the night Veronica had commited suicide. But as the tear rolled down his cheek, she was reminded once again of a memory long forgotten.

She saw Rocko in front of her, not Will. He was crying, Veronica was holding him. She had never seen him cry. But she was scared herself. He had just beaten up someone. The moment he saw what he'd done and the blood on his hands, he started crying and he had run away. Clarisse was bawling on the corner of the street, but she crawled over to the bleeding boy. Jango Graves.

Before she knew it, she was standing next to will, with her hand on his shoulder. She must have walked over here while she was remembering. What had Will been saying? That he didn't know? Clarisse wasn't about to befriend the boy. She had no room for friends, but she leaned over and wiped the tear from his face sweetly. She hadn't been this caring in a long time. "You should wash up." She whispered and attempted a smile, though whether that was successful she didn't know.

Clarisse was back on her feet. "I'll leave. Take your time, I'll see if I can find any other food." She turned away from him and grabbed her falchion from of the large rock and walked away, without looking back.

The red haired girl found herself back at the death site of the girl they had killed not too long ago. Agatha. The girl had stained the ground with red and her severed hand lay not too far away from her body. Clarisse's stomach squired, but it didn't bother her much. Without really thinking, she bent down and took the girl's backpack. It was empty, but might still be useful. The girl had a hammer as well, she stuck it in the backpack and then put it on her shoulders.

A slight breeze blew through the arena. She sat on the ground, and for the first time, she really thought about what was going on around her. No doubt tributes were fighting else where, but there were cameras all her around her that she couldn't even she. The breeze she was feeling probably wasn't even natural. Gamemaker made. They controlled everything. Her face could have been flashed on all of Panem's television screens hundreds of times already. They could be watching her now.

This wasn't really a fight for her life, but a television show. She was just a pawn now. But wasn't that what she had wanted. She volunteered for the games after all. Serenity could have been the one in this very position. Serenity. Clarisse hoped she was okay. For a reason, she longed to hold the girl in her arms. Something she hadn't felt in a long time. And what had she been feeling earlier? Compassion?

It was becoming a great mystery for her. The games were supposed to detroy people. Drive them crazy. Make them bloodthristy. Not help them discover lost feeling. But as hard as she tried, these feeling and memories kept resurfacing. Was it because she was nearing the end of her life? People said you see your life flash by before you die. Is this what they meant? She didn't think so.

But if this was the case, how would she explain how she has been the rest of the time during the games. bloodthirsty herself. Emotionless. Craving a fight. Did she want to die that badly? Clarisse didn't feel sympathy when she had been watching other tributes die. It just now occured to her that they may only have been one person, but to someone, they could have been the world.

This was all too much thinking. Is Will done yet? She hadn't even searched for food like she had said. Clarisse shook her head as she stood up again and returned to where they camped. "Are you decent, Will?" She called out, without caring because she entered anyways. "I've gotten a hammer and another backpack. Do you want it, or shall I keep it?"
