What Awaits in the Seam? [Open]

Agonizingly hungry, Mira found herself coming to in another alleyway she could barely remember being in. Most days she never really did know where she was going, let alone why, she just went wherever her feet led her. What was I doing again…? The rare times she did get to sleep mildly peacefully, she usually wound up waking up forgetful. Standing up and dusting herself off a little, she struggled to remember what she had been doing the other day.

The only thing that came to mind was that she’d been out hunting again… and failed to bring in anything. Stretching her sore, weak limbs she faced the opening of the alleyway where a slight, fresh breeze was coming through. The breeze would’ve been nice if it hadn’t brought along the scent of food. Almost immediately her stomach began growling, complaining for a lack of food. Involuntarily, she let out a small whine, clutching her stomach just slightly.

Head bent down, she began to walk out of the alleyway, conscious to keep her wrists hidden. Thankfully she was wearing something with pockets today and didn’t have to worry about hiding her cuts and teeth marks. Mira considered reopening an old wound or opening up a new one and sucking on some blood, but decided against it. As much as she loved blood, it wasn’t quite so nutritious or nourishing when she was drinking her own blood. Aimlessly, she wandered around, stumbling here and there over the odd debris that littered the streets.

Where am I gonna go anyway…? Pondering that, she stopped walking and moved aside to let people pass her. Come to think of it, what time is it? Listening to her surroundings, she had to guess that it was still pretty early in the day. The Seam wasn’t as crowded as it usually was. Then again… the Hunger Games were coming to a close or something like that, weren’t they? In the end she gave up on trying to figure out what time it was.

As the all too familiar route to the square started to come up, she veered away, bumping into someone in the process. "S-Sorry!" apologized Mira quickly, scampering away without waiting for a reply. She hated the Games. There was no way she was going to the square and put up with the senseless thing unless it was a requirement from the Capitol. Still, that breeze from before was still lingering in the Seam it seemed, constantly updating her grumbling stomach about the various food stalls and shops. Maybe there’ll be something left in the trash… … … thought Mira unhappily. But food was food.
