Tall. Imposing. Mad.

This is Camicus. The boy is wiry, almost to the point of unhealthiness. He could be well fed, if he wanted to be, but he doesn't eat. Cam has a face, like most people. His is thin and long, with a high, wide forehead. Camicus has small, rust-colored eyebrows. They are set just above his average-sized, rust colored eyes. Cam has a large set of ears and nose. He rarely shaves, so he often has ginger stubble across his narrow chin and face. His entire face pales in comparison to his hair. Camicus has red hair that sticks out in all directions, as if he stuck his finger in a light socket. (Which he has done before) It gives him a strange mad-scientist type air.

Camicus is six feet, four inches tall and done growing. Luckily for others, because his height can put him a bit on the intimidating side. His long, thin arms may not be strong, but they're quick, as are his long thin legs.

Up and down Camicus' arms are several minor burn marks and small scars. Nobody ever said Camicus didn't get into his share of brawls, or that he was above self-harm.

He often comes across as quite disheveled. He couldn't care much less about his appearance. Cam usually wears clothes a few sizes to big, which tend to get caught in his flames. Shirts usually acquire holes and pants become charred within weeks. Shoes? Only if it's freezing outside, and usually not even then.

And forget about bathing. Camicus bathes once a month whether he needs it or not. His desperate fear of water keeps him away from cleanliness.

Personality:

Fire. Life. Death.

You could call him a pyromaniac, but that may not be strong enough a word. Camicus is almost like a flame himself. Alive one moment, dead the next, but always fighting. Cam is one with the flames. Born of fire.

You could call him brave. But most would call him crazy. It depends on your point of view. Either way, Camicus does not fear often. Only one thing.

Water. Water is the one thing that terrifies Cam beyond coherence. Because a creature of fire can not put up with water. If water can kill his creations, his beautiful flames, of course it would kill him without second thought.

Camicus is a compulsive liar. But he loves to tell the truth through lies. He loves to be believed when he lies and not when he tells the truth. Camicus loves to be right. He likes conflict, power, and money.

Camicus is excellent at reading people. He can almost feel their emotions, and the unpleasant ones tend to give him satisfaction. Camicus is hostile and bitter, because he cannot find acceptance.

He likes to be alone, and to think. Cam likes to think, to imagine. But not to plan. He believes that planning restricts his freedom, a thing he values above all else, and with good reason.

Camicus likes to experiment. Some of his experiments have turned out quite well. Others, not so much. Creation and imagination, with flame, become the most powerful ally in his world.

And one other thing. Cam loves to sing. Almost as much as he loves fire, he loves to sing. To fire, to himself, to anyone. Anyone who criticizes his voice best beware, or they may meet an unpleasant circumstance in the near future.

History:

He likes to think he was born of fire. In all reality, Camicus was born in the usual way, to his two doting parents in District Six. Camicus was not the only child, but he was the last one. The family consists of himself, one male and one female parent, and the older brother, Joel. Joel was always the favorite. He was smarter than Camicus, more attractive than Camicus, more friendly than Camicus. Oh, and he wasn’t possessed by fire either. That seemed to endear him to people in ways Cam could never hope to be. Even though they were only a year apart, Joel and Cam were never close in the way brothers should be.

Cam entered the world on June 21, seventeen years ago. His parents believed that having another son would make their lives even more beautiful. That was not to be. From an early age, it was obvious that Camicus was not the son they envisioned. He already, at age two or so, played with fire. His parents didn’t know how to react, beyond hiding the matches in the house. They did so, which enraged Camicus. A few tantrums later, they took him to a leading scientist of mental disability. The man told the parents that their boy was a pyromaniac, and treatment began. Unfortunately, nothing worked. Desperate, the adults began to burn his fingers when he played with fire. But the fire whispered to him, told him that the burns belonged to the parents, not to it. And he believed every enticing word.

Flash forward age eight. Camicus attended grade school, but from any time he wasn’t at school, he was locked away in the basement. The asylum in the District wouldn’t take children that young, but his parents were afraid of what Cam would do if allowed to roam the district alone. His parents cared for him, giving him three meals a day, some sunlight on nice days, and almost anything he asked for, as long as he remained in the basement, away from others. Cam didn’t mind. There were matches in the basement, and old chemicals. He began to experiment.

At age thirteen, Camicus made his first drug from the chemicals in the basement and the ones he nicked from elsewhere. He overdosed, and his parents were afraid he had died. After Camicus recovered, the basement was stripped. He pulled out of school. All that was left for Camicus was his bed, some books, a small window, and a few matches too many. He broke the window and began to use the shards to cut himself. Why not? He had nothing better to do, and he had to save his matches. But eventually, the glass was taken away too.

When Camicus was fourteen, his parents died in a mysterious house fire. Cam escaped through the window, and his brother had been lucky to be out with friends that night. There was a lot of suspicion regarding Camicus and the fire. But when the Peacekeepers came for him, he was nowhere to be found.

Since then, Camicus has been on his own, and he likes it that way. He doesn’t attend school, but he does have a job. He works at a factory, disposing of unused, dangerous, or otherwise unwanted chemicals. And by ‘dispose of’ he means take home. Home being wherever he feels like, but a favorite is an abandoned old house on the District outskirts. Camicus makes a decent profit selling chemical weapons and drugs on the street. And of course, he is never separated from the fire.
