Illiana Annwn of District Eight

Illiana Annwn has been called everything from beautiful to hideous to alien. ‘Lana,’ as some call her is a girl of average weight, maybe a little scrawny looking, but only because a pencil has more curves than Illiana. Sure if she put on about ten pounds shed be pretty curvy, but in Lana's current state she's pretty stick-like. Illiana is tall enough but she falls in the average height zone. Her face is rather unusual as she has eyes neither blue nor green. They seem to be a color that you would find when looking at a darker ocean. Now to the part that truly makes Lana's face unusual, her huge blue-green eyes almost always rimmed with black eye-liner create a rather evil-doll look to the girl. Her lips are plump and if you really look, you can tell they naturally curve downwards even though Illiana usually has at least a faint smile on her face. Her nose is rather long, but is one of her favorite traits as they make her rather cat-like bone structure less noticeable. Truly its her huge puppy-dog eyes that attract the most attention, but Lana has and always will claim it is her most attention-grabbing feature. Long hair that seems to be the color one would get if they weaved moonlight, and sunlight flows down the girls long body. Illiana as a small child had darker hair, but as she grew older it got paler. Illiana has pale skin from lack of going out in the sun, something rare for any citizen of District Eight as usually citizens go out a lot, and are naturally dark skinned. She has a few scars from running through the woods that border her District, but besides that Lana is free of most blemishes. She has a unique birthmark on her lower back. A splotch of skin that has a perimeter similar to the size of a persons palm or knee-cap is a light-honey color. It causes no health issues, and Illiana doesn’t pay much attention to it, not really calling it pretty or ugly. She can be vain, and on most days Illiana will not step foot out of her house unless her hair has been brushed and at least her face has been washed. The teen has nothing else to do in life besides cook, clean, and sew stuff, which has lead to her huge amounts of time ‘getting ready,’ to go climb a tree outside. Illiana is a gorgeous girl, but her unique features are a bit odd. Compared to her sister, Lana Annwn is much more normal looking, not as exotic or alien-like. Illiana has been told she looks more like her real father than her mother. Her delicate features have been molded into some strong muscles, and Illiana could probably win a few fights just on her strength and speed. She's not the best when it comes to crude, cruel plans, but the build of her body makes up for that. Hopefully the gentle girl with never have to test her strength…

Lana Annwn is a tough cookie. She has a natural aura of being an amazing person whose so naturally lovable, yet at the same time Illiana isn't a goody two-shoes. She doesn’t take much BS and is pretty secretive, managing to keep one of her favorite afternoon spots a secret for four years until her family figured out where she was going all those times to have some peace and quiet. Loving is one word used to describe her, but truthfully Illiana is more passionate, determined, driven, and stubborn than plane old loving. She hates watching other be hurt and even will grimace at eating meat sometimes although in her semi-poor District any food is good food. Illiana knows when to be serious, and when to have a good laugh as she’s very aware if herself and others. Perceptive would be the word, and in addition to empathetic this makes Illiana a very people-specializing person. She immediately seems to welcome even a shy, timid stranger into her life and treats the person with the same amount of respect and kindness she would give a long-time friend. Sure while Illiana is making chit-chat and talking to you, she's trying to find evidence you're a spy or a bad person, but Illiana seems to repel mean people. The teen knows some people would look at her radical way of being and want her gone, so Illiana has trained herself to keep an open-mind and suspect anybody of anything until she's really gotten to know them. She's learned to tolerate anybody who doesn’t meet her standards, and manages to be irritated by them while still seeing their best quality as making up for whatever she finds annoying. Pride and a huge ego often are found together in a person, and this is true of Illiana. She has a huge sense of pride in anything worth being proud of, but if you insult whatever it is shell bristle like a porcupine and demand to know why you don’t like it. Lana never did say she wasn’t overly demanding or has, ‘high,’ standards. All her real, true friends know Illiana well enough to keep her happy—after all Illiana is worth the stress. She's not perfect and sometimes struggles to keep her Zen-like, peaceful image pristine, but Lana does a pretty good job. A stubborn, fierce, loyal, brave, compulsive, friendly, perceptive, empathetic, passionate, kind-hearted, survivor. That’s truly what Illiana is with a few sprinkles of fun quirks, bad jokes, and drama-queen moments to add spice to everybody around hers lives! Illiana is just one of those people that seems to have a destiny, or a, ‘why,’ to living. She believes in true love, magic, and destiny, but Lana really believes if you want love go and find it, magic is being able to smile like you mean it, and you create your own destiny. She very easily believes in things, and has debated on making her last name, ‘Hope,’ or, something else of the like. Of course this doesn’t mean her head is in fairy-land or something—Illiana is pretty down to earth and not at all a dreamer, but when she gives the junk thought, she’s happy enough to tell anybody she believes in it. Illiana is a strange person as she can belief in something half-way and not seem like a poser. She beliefs in things, but not for stupid reasons, and there's always room for her to question said beliefs. She's smart enough, and wiser than most seventeen year olds, but Illiana is a young girl with not much life experience trying to make decisions that will affect the rest of her life, and that of all her family and friends. The stress is a huge issue for the girl… she's only a ‘stupid teenager!’

Illiana Annwn was born to Marshall and Dana Cain. She was always a pretty girl with Danas smooth, pale skin and Marshall's natural strength. ‘Lana,’ as some called her had two older siblings, Carter and Melissa. Both instantly fell in love with the new-born even though they were just two themselves. A month or so after her birth, one of Danas friends died, leaving them to raise an infant girl a year or so older than Illiana. Illiana had a disease which made her uncomfortable around huge groups of people, so the Mayor allowed the Cain family to keep Illiana to themselves. They taught her all the things Carter and Melissa learned in school, and found Illiana to be quite honestly brilliant. This has always been something the whole family is proud of. That is what they want Illiana and her siblings to think, but Marshall and Dana are not Illiana’s parents. Born in District Two actually, Illiana Annwn was one of two babies that graced a Career Tribute family. Nara, a young mother who had witnessed the father of her children, London die on national television in the Hunger Games was seething. She was very angry at the Capitol, and on that night as her Fathers friends said goodbye, Nara overheard something. “Lets hope his kid is a better bet,” one of Nara’s least favorite cousin had hooted, which earned him a smirk from her Father. That’s when young Nara realized something: her baby would become a Career Tribute, and further the family legacy of producing winners. Nara grew fearful, as she knew all eyes were on her until she gave birth. Wouldn’t want the unborn Career to be hurt by a depressed Nara. Finally the young woman went to her aunt Rosa, and asked her to be the one to deliver her child—alone. Nara planned on having Rosa tell everybody her baby had been born dead, and give it to a nice family in a far off District. Rosa grudgingly agreed to this, as her own child had been killed a few years back after being forced to volunteer. Nara gave birth to two healthy baby girls, one being Illiana Annwn. When they realized Nara had had twins, the second being at first named Diana Arcadia, Aunt Rosa knew that it would be harder for them to find a family willing to take both babies. Nara gave Illiana Annwn away to her Aunt, and decided to keep the girls twin. It is unclear whether Nara chose to keep Diana Arcadia because she looked too weak to be in the Games, or strong enough to be in the Games—but she kept her. Father was elated with his new grand-daughter, but refused to let her be named Diana Arcadia, instead telling Nara she would be Arcadia Lupe with a, ‘silent Diana following.’ Illiana Annwn was given to the Cain family of District Eight, never to know her Tribute sister, or suicidal mother. She was raised like a normal child, except Illiana never left her families property unless she was taking a trip into the illegal woods which bordered the Cain household. During the days, Lana helped her mother and father tend to the sheep they had, and as soon as Carter, Melissa and Rosin (the baby girl) were out of school she was free. Carter and Rosin would help the Cain parents with chores and such, while Melissa taught Illiana everything she had learned in school. At the same time the two girls would gossip, cook, and the clean the house. The family always sat down for dinner and then the kids had some time to play. When there wasn’t school, Carter would lead his three sisters into the woods where they would play around and have fun. Eventually something happened: adopted sister Rosin fell in love with eighteen year old Carter. Carter on the other hand despised his bratty sister. As Melissa and Illiana watched from the side-lines, something the Cain's never thought would happen, did. Carter and Melissa remembered something. Illiana had not been born to Dana, she had been given to the Cain's. IN an attempt to get Rosin to give him up, Carter proclaimed his love for Illiana. The whole Cain family was in shambles, and finally the boy realized no matter he had no blood ties to Lana Annwn, she was his sister. Carter and later Rosin ran away to join a growing group of wanderers called Uprisers, leaving behind two distraught sisters. Illiana still has not forgiven her, ‘parents,’ and still does not know the truth of her heritage, but something about the District Two Tribute in this years Games, has awakened something in Illiana. She's not sure what she's going to do yet, but Illiana has decided she quite honestly despises the Capitol.
