I hope this works.

With eight multicolored blindfolds fashioned from two old t-shirts wrapped around his upper arm, Griffin threw two bags of supplies over his shoulder and glanced out the window of one of the only standing buildings in the ruins. Tents and other human objects sprouted out of the grass, proof of years of life in the area. Supposedly empty, but not even close. Living in the area was in itself an act against the Capitol. Or was it submission, living in squalor worse than that of the worst Districts?

He shook his head. The Uprisers had food, resources, and freedom. Maybe freedom more than anything else. What more could they ask for? The next step up would be the Districts, the lower ones at least. Maybe they would have proper beds, not tents and sleeping bags and mats to sleep on, but they would be prisoners, unable to say and do whatever they felt like.

To him, at least, the line was clear. He knew that others only lived temporarily in the camp, that they spent the rest of their time living back home. It almost seemed to be a double life, one that he couldn't even think of. To live free in some respects and then allow yourself to be controlled in others? Impossible, but he couldn't judge. He made his decision, and they had made theirs.

Walking out to the clearing, he faced the group. One, two.. three, four, five.. were they all there? Wrinkling his forehead, he procured a list from his pocket and read aloud.

"Victory, Myla, Ariadne, Greg, Seph, Ceasara, Blake, and Purenessa. Everybody here?" he asked, looking up at all of them. He counted eight others, enough for two groups.

He flung the blindfolds at them. "We're dividing into two groups of four. First group is Blake, Ceasara, Myla, and Seph. Second group is Victory, Ariadne, Greg, and Purenessa. Put your blindfolds on, hold hands, and follow me, alright?"

Griffin waited a few seconds before walking on. "We're going to walk a few hours into the forest," he spoke as moved, his boots brushing against the grass with small thumps. "It'll probably be shorter a distance than if you were all able to see, so tomorrow on your way back I'm sure it will be easier. You have to be blindfolded because you're going to find your way back to camp, which should be easy enough because a lot of you have lived out here for a while, right? The real challenge is going to be working together. I don't know what you already know, you might be an expert at survival, but the goal is to help each other out. You'll stay one night out there, both groups separated. Feed yourselves, make a shelter, hunt if you know how, and teach everyone else whatever you already know. Got it?"

He nodded and walked on, smiling as they tried not to trip over their own feet. He stopped when one group lagged behind or began walking in another direction, moved closer to them when they stumbled over fallen branches and roots in the soil, physically pulled them in the right direction when they couldn't hear him.

First he left one group in a slightly cleared out area and took off their blindfolds for them, motioning for them to stay as he dropped down the bag of supplies, then he led the other to a denser part of the forest and stopped.

"Here we are, take off your blindfolds once I leave. There's a bag right here, it has everything you might need."

And that was that. It only took him a second to drop off their supplies before he trudged back the way he came, covering his tracks in the mean time.

- The bag has matches, 2 sleeping bags, a tarp, a few water jugs, a machete, and a knife. Nobody was allowed to bring anything extra.
- I'll make a separate thread in just a few minutes for the first group -- Blake, Ceasara, Myla, and Seph. This thread right here is for the second group.
- These threads will last about one month.
- You must post at least 4 times for your character to have legitimately learned anything and to be eligible for this thread to count towards the possibility of your character being promoted.
- Post quickly, but be aware of quality.
- There is no posting order.

Victory still wasn't sure about this group of mutts, but she believed in her heart of hearts that this was the way to vengeance. They just needed to thin the herd. The whole hazing thing reeked of immaturity, but Victory dutifully covered her bug eyes with the cloth, tied it tightly in the wild dark mane that had long ago replaced the shiny, smooth curls the Capitol had given her. She didn't know anyone else in her group - in fact she didn't really know anyone at all. But that didn't stop Victory from picking up the hand of the other girl in her group, and marching on behind the fellow in charge. Griffin. Such an odd name, and this from a girl who spent many of her days in the Capitol.

Victory hustled along for awhile, and then fell into a steady walk. It was far from the clearing that she began to drag. Her body, far older than it looked, had been subsisting on plants and nuts for too many weeks. She had lost any stamina she had gained in her life, which had never been enough for cross country travel. She chewed the inside of her lip to keep herself going, forced herself to realize that it was a head game. She was good at those. Victory could convince herself of almost anything, like the Capitol is trying to help me, or there is a reason to live. Still, she stumbled and felt the burn in her knees, her calves, her heart. It was not strenuous, but it was more than Victory did in many days usually.

She fell to her knees as soon as Griffin released them. It took her a few moments longer to remove the cloth and by then he had vanished and she was stuck in the woods with three strangers. Hadn't she purposefully avoided this sort of companionship? And yet there was no way she was going to bring down Snow by herself. Those bright, sapphire eyes turned around the clearing before she got to her feet, brushing off her already muddied pants. One last swipe at her hips and she was as clean as she had been in a month.

With her hands pressed together in front of herself, Victory used both index fingers to point at the bag. "What's in the Cornucopia?" She asked, because there was nothing more important in the world to Victory than the Games. Not any more. The references flowed so easily, so often through her thoughts that she was no longer afraid of their implications. She already knew where her thoughts would turn, as if they could ever escape Autumn. That blue gaze flickered among her companions. Victory had no intention of being the first person to sort through the bag. It might be boobie trapped, and she didn't have the faintest idea what to do in the woods, even if she had the right tools. She normally just dug a hole in the ground and ate the plants she recognized, which probably explained her emaciated state.

Victory scratched at the back of her neck, staring down the backpack. "Victory, by the way. My name is Victory." Which had to be one of her worst introductions ever. Had she lost everything - even her aptitude for social situations and etiquette - after wandering the woods for a month? She shuddered at the thought, squared her shoulders, and made herself stand properly, with her hands tucked together in front of her hips.

It's all gonna fall eventually.

It started a rumor, just like anything else. Whispers on the streets, fearful glances at Peacekeepers, and raised eyebrows. And yet, it spread through the district like a plague (only in the darkest, dampest alleyways, though, for anyone besides the nastiest citizens District One had to offer would have told the Keepers in a heartbeat). I, of course, was one of the first to hear about it. In their world, there are secrets, but in mine, there are not. I have always known because people are too afraid to let it be any other way- I am one of the mighty queens of the lower District One citizens. Known and feared, with my very name able to make eyes dart around nervously and hearts flutter. On my enemies' lips, I am an untrustworthy rat. On the lips of all others, I am the warrior girl who gets what she wants because there will be trouble otherwise. I don't need to ask questions; answers pour out of whatever pitiful person catches my raven gaze.

And so a new chapter in my ink stained story begins. All the other pages are stained crimson with horrors and black with rumors, and so I cannot help but wonder what new words will be scrawled (and then erased) into my tale that someone has yet to read. To an outsider, there are far too many blanks in me- empty pages rest where vital information should be. But no, they can know me as a monster but never the ingredients used to create the horrible darkness that purrs pleasure in my chest, whispering secrets and lies to the soft thump, thump, thump of my icy heart. I have never been one to share hardships, but rather spread them. It is so much easier to destroy, and so my failed attempts at creation remain hidden within the darkest and most arcane parts of my mind, where no one (save one boy with vivid green eyes and a cold smile) dares to venture. I am a secret which makes me all the more threatening, for those who do not have known heartbreak do not have known weakness.

I catch my navy blue blindfold easily, never taking glaring black eyes off of Griffin. I have never liked nor trusted the things they call leaders, and the person in front of me is no exception. I do not take orders and never have, and my hand grips the blindfold (which reeks of something I cannot place) tightly in one fist to demonstrate this fact. My eyes dart over to the others, who have already begun to tie their blindfolds around their head. I quietly remind myself why I am here, repeating reasons over and over again in my head. I may be only eighteen, but I do not like being treated like a child- I have been making my own choices for such a long time that my chest burns at the idea of having to obey others. With a great amount of reluctance, I tie the blindfold on, following the noises he makes in complete silence. I have always been graceful, and losing my sight gives me no disadvantages- I do most of my work at night, anyway. The bushes claw at my legs with sharp fingers, insisting that I stay behind retreat leave and I have no reason not to listen to their nonexistent cries except for one which I cradle close to a heart that does nothing to kindle my reasons.

When at last we have stopped, I whip off my blindfold and throw it to the ground in disgust, wrinkling my nose at it and then glancing around at the others. Victoria, as she calls herself, looks as if she comes from a very rich and proper family. I narrow my eyes slightly at her (it is obvious in my greasy, tangled locks and scarred skin that I have to work just to survive), and then turn toward the bad. There isn't even a moment's hesitation- I stride right over it and dig in, pulling out matches, some water jugs, a knife (it is hard for me to force my fingers to release), a machete, and two sleeping bags. I kick the sleeping bags toward the others impassively- I have spent a good amount of my nights sleeping on hard, cold, unforgiving cave floors. Luxuries such as sleeping bags are unnecessary for my survival, so it is best that I give them to the spoiled ones instead.

My eyes once again land on the knife, but I keep my face as impassive as possible as I study it. Good for hunting and cutting things to make a shelter- by far, the most desirable thing in the bag. I look back up at my group, gesture to the knife, and then to myself, eyebrows raised in a silent question (I don't need their permission, have never needed it, and never will, but if we are to be spending the night together, I do not wish to upset any of them too soon). May I have it?
