In Repose Under the Tree (open)

Josiah Weaver, District 8
The sun beaming down on the small house he resided in, Josiah opened the wooden door and didn't say a word, taking a cautious step forward. He glanced around quickly, and then made his way toward the tall tree that created a silent repose from the rest of District 8. The nearest building, several hundred meters away, was quiet as the residents were shearing the sheep yet again. Josiah looked down at his feet, sad, and pulled out a novel.
No, you can't read at a time like this. You're too sad, too distracted...Too lonely
He reached for a small twig of which he broke off of the tree and twirled it in his fingers, the bark and dirt rubbing into his calloused hand. He sighed, a deep, full inhalation, and began to build a stick man out of more twigs from the tree.
You need something to spend your time on. What's wrong with you?
He stood up, wiped the dirt off of his hands and onto his pants, and began to walk on a nearby trail of which only he really traversed. He walked past other areas of residence and shoved his hands in his pockets. He glanced around.
I really don't know anyone. I want to talk, but everybody here seems occupied.
He kicked a small pebble awkwardly and backtracked to his tree which provided him temporary comfort. He sat back down and pulled out a small piece of metal out of his pocket that he scavenged from a broken light bulb and fiddled with it. Silently, he frowned and sat and did nothing as he thought about his father and his life and his hunger. How he longed for interaction, the social butterfly he was meant to be. If only he wasn't so misunderstood.
He became a social outcast just from being talented in school and research. Nobody gave him a second chance, only did people focus on the others who are much more blatantly talented, albeit in sports, physique, or attractiveness. He was a nobody. And he was barred from interaction while he was trapped in his home and so busy and now that things are slow he is different.
Only the tree spent this much time with him and he sighed and sat doing nothing yet again.
