_{I find myself in a tunnel of madness. A velvet nightmare of dull lights and drunken teenagers with nothing else to do with their endless supply of money. This 'luxury' is not what it's supposed to be, it's available to everyone, thus it feels cheap to me. This isn't real luxury... Maybe to the scum in District Twelve, but to me? This is a crappy nightclub.

Yet I still find myself here, without any good reason. Maybe it was a desire to get away that drew me here, maybe it was boredom. I can't say there was one clear defining reason that influenced me to come to this part of the city, but I know one thing for sure. I need a good time.

I grunt, it's true. But I don't need that kind of a good time, I need to get away from all the punching and kicking and stabbing. All this training. I'm depressed, or annoyed more likely, I just don't feel like being ruthless Kilbey Zaha... I'd much rather be sociable Kilbey Zaha. The other side of the coin.

I glance at the small glass that hangs in my right hand. I lean over the oaken bar and signal the waiter for a top-up. He fills half my glass with rich brown liquor. I give it a quick swirl before taking a brief sip. I'm nowhere near drunk, I'm probably more sober than when I arrived, if that's possible. Probably a consequence of me thinking too much.

I didn't get reaped, another Moreno was chosen this year. Pathetic, the last Moreno was an awful athlete and deserved to die, even if at his own hands. I'll enjoy watching Jae die. He's not a true Career, not like me. He hasn't put in the hours I have, he hasn't sweat like I have. Sure, he'll be in the Career group, but in a one-on-one fight, he'd get destroyed.

I wonder where Indrik is. I haven't seen him since our incident in training the other week. I have found myself fascinated at the response of my declared rival... The outrage at the thought of me cheating in competitive sport. He doesn't understand, you can't cheat death.

All these thoughts of Jae and Indrik, all swirling around my head like the liquor swirls around my glass. I take another sip, staring into nothing. I'm going to need a lot more alcohol before I can get rid of these images.}
