Night Rider's Lament - Blitz [Bird]

It had been dusk for hours now, but the shallow light didn't bother Oscar. He never minded how dark it got, used to working in the earliest morning and the latest night. Brown eyes were perfectly adjusted to the low light-level, allowing him to clearly the mostly-abandoned street that he walked down. He had left Sunny at home for this trip, feeling that the stallion deserved a rest after the hard work that they had done yesterday. The lack of the horse's presence at his side made him feel a small emptiness in his gut, but he pushed it aside for the mean time.

Without his horse's keen senses to help alert him to other people, Oscar failed to notice that someone had walked into his path. He had been deep in thought and not looking where he was going, so he ended up bumping into the figure in front of him. Snapping back to the present, he looked at the person, somewhat startled. Seeing it was a girl of about twelve, he attempted an apology. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't see you there." He hoped she wouldn't be upset at his carelessness, he was used to being warned by Sunny if there was someone nearby, in his absence the seventeen year old had become a little unaware of his surrounding.
