I am a shadow of the girl that I used to be. What is to become of me? This prison of a room is cold, though the windows, harsh glass like mouths screaming light in, are closed. Suddenly, my black dress doesn’t seem like such a good idea. You are mourning yourself. My father has come to see me, Clement too. They wouldn’t look me in the eyes. Or was it me that wouldn’t look at them?

I pace the width of the cell, concentrating on the vibrations that travel up to my knees as my feet hit the floor. They tell me I am real, that I am still alive. For now. My inner voice is still too afraid to come back to me, and I am still a shell. Just a shell, a girl already dead. Already dead. So why does everything still feel so real?

Why, now, do I feel more alive and tangible than I ever have done before?

Scratch scratch scratch Comes the noise of the lock inside the door. Someone is outside. Is it time already? No, the sun is still too high in the sky, the square still full of sobbing parents, the children who had before needed comforting now comforting them. It’s okay, Daddy. Look, I’m still here, see? The door whines open, shadows from the hall sniffing their way in as their owners tentatively step into the room. I count one, two, three steps into the room: the heavy boots of a law enforcer, and a child’s footsteps. A child’s?-[/i]

No one came for him. My only friend. I am still facing the wall, fingers splayed – insects feeling their way over an alien surface for some sort of support. I don’t need to turn around to know who it is, though.

I swallow, trying to regain myself, but my voice still hangs weak between us.

I'm searching for a face A face that I have studied for so long, a familiar person from one of my dreams or not. It was moments after the reaping, every time this day comes I loose my dream self. It's like my body is taken over by a real person not just a dreamer. But today I haven't really been acting myself because of the tributes.

It was clear as glass in the square the feeling of relief from the parents and children. Rain dripping from the slits of their eye unto the dry dead ground. Sobs floating here and there only because their kids would live to see another year, but they know this feeling wouldn't last forever. They knew that any of their children might be reaped next year or the year after that so on and so forth. Whispers fly around the place as some ~~idiots~~ people talk about the two tributes.

How are they going to get sponsors? Would they live long? Could they survive even the first day?

Doubts floated all around the square. My pace slows as I approach the justice building. I need to see her. Cause nothing's going right. I'm not sure anymore about how she will live in the arena. If she dies then I'm gonna be alone again, And no one likes to be alone. Entering the justice building, peacekeepers were walking fast everywhere. My eyebrows furrow as my mind gets blank. I don't know what to do.

A shiver ran down my spine as I slowly turn around. It was a guy, dark skinned and a giant. My jaw started to chatter, that's when I remembered his question.

Um.... I came here to see Eternity. Eternity Lordthon.

I felt cold sweat all over my body, This guy was intimidating.[/i] He quickly walked to the left hall which was as dark as night. A few light bulbs hanging here and there but none was working. I took his silence as a signal for me to follow him, so I did. Hastening my pace we came to a stop at a huge metal door.

He said with a stern tone and exited. It was a small room with only one chair and a window to see over the square. There she was with her back against me. A little sigh escapes my mouth.

Almos?

She sounded beat, defeated almost. But I knew she was stronger than that. I knew she could handle this without braking a sweat.She's a runner for God-sake. She could escape everything even being killed. Eternity promise me you'll win. I told her sounding cold, stone cold. I don't want to loose my only friend in this crap hole. If she dies, my life is nothing, and everything's a mess. I don't want to make m life a train wreck.[/i][/color][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify][/size]

Fear radiates off him so powerfully I can almost feel its cold fire on my back. Almos… He fills the room, though he is only small. With his smell, sweet yearning and thick innocence, to the sound of his light breathing, so frail that you wouldn’t even know he was there. Unless you hoped he was there. I wrap my hands around my elbows, suddenly feeling indecent and bare, as I am so stripped without my little voice, and having Almos in the room makes it so much clearer. He is a candle, but I am still a shadow that shouldn’t be here.

Eternity, promise me you’ll win. When did he get so grown up? His voice rumbles around me, the vibrations comforting in the way warm water around your toes is. Almos is a hot pool, and I want to sink into him and never have to leave.

But I will have to leave. When did he get so big? The Almos I remember, from inside my cave, lying in my arms and seeing past my tears, was small, innocent. Has he been aged by this day? Almos…

I turn around, pushing myself from the wall, my body longing for the solid support of it again, and stumble shakily to my candle. He stands there, taller than I remember but still so fragile, and frowns at me. When he smiles, his ears raise and ruffle his feathery hair I can’t lose him.

I reach one hand out and brush his pale cheek with my thumb, brushing away tears that have not yet fallen. I promise, I choke out, the words savage animals the scratch my dry throat on their journey from my mouth. I’ll do it. And then, I pull him to me, gathering him in my arms. Almos, when did you get so big? In the middle of a cold room, grey and harsh, we two terrified children stand. Our arms are wrapped around eachother, and no words need to be said. Almos’ hands press into my back and remind me just how alive he is.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/size][/justify]

You’re okay. I’m okay. My tender words are muffled by his hair, as I breathe him in. A little part of him will stay with me, in my memory. And with that, another thought strikes me like a lightning bolt. Memory. It makes my stomach clench again, and I feel like I should cry again, though all my tears are spent.

And I ask the impossible.

My hands started to fluctuate. Was it because of anger or despair, I wasn't sure, it could have been both. I felt a piece of my heart break waiting for her to answer my ~~impossible~~ question. She lifts her hands towards her elbow, feeling cold. But there was no breeze. We were locked up in a cell left to talk for only twenty minutes. I guess it's gonna have to hurt, we were delaying our good byes. Two minutes was so little time to say good bye to my friend.

I guess I'm gonna have to cry, but I can't show her weakness. I guess I would do that at home just to ease my pain

[/i]. It was hard enough to loose both my parents but know I will have to loose a friend. Trying to calm my breathing, I look to her for an answer. My eyes started to water. I guess it's gonna break me down, but that's life right. Like fallin' when you try to fly.

"I promise..."

Promises meant nothing to me anymore since this was the hunger games. Promises were meant to be broken some would say, but I never believed that, but know I could see it coming in to action. Biting my lower, because I knew there was a hundred and one ways to kill her. It was 23 against one. The odds were against her since district 1, 2 and 4 were career districts and their tributes would be very blood thirsty. She wouldn't stand a chance.

"...I’ll do it."

Then she pulled me in to a tight embrace, I didn't fight back. I'm just a little boy and this was to much for me. I wanted my parents, hate started to boil in me I questioned why they died. Or maybe they just gave me up. Never wanting this to happen to me, I want her to stay here, with me in district five and run away to our hide out. But sadly that isn't what faith wanted to happen. He wants me to be lonely for the rest of my life. Squeezing her real hard was all I could do as water dripped from my eyes down towards her bare shoulder. Whispers fell out of her mouth, it was words of comfort but I took none of it. I didn't want her words I want her to stay. Then I felt her tense. I felt fear start to seep in. Did I do something wrong?, I wasn't sure. Then her voice fills the room:

"Do you promise to remember me?"

Drooping my hands, tears stopped flowing. My memory. I didn't know if I could keep that promise. It was difficult for me to remember something after I start to dream. Pushing her away, I didn't want to this. I couldn't do that, that promise is to difficult.. Slowly my foot steps started to lead towards the door. Get me out of here I can't talk to her anymore.

I'm not sure I could keep that. And you of all people should know why Eternity.

MY hands grip the metal handle. Feeling it gently, I started to twist it. I guess everything Starts with goodbye. And that's when the water flow.
