A shadow flashed past the boys face as he passed under a tree. His light hair shining like a halo in the early autumn sun. "Who's there?" he asks wearily as a bush rustiles near him. Much to his happiness, it is just the wind. His blue eyes relax from there tensed position below his light colored eyebrows and a smile lights up his handsome face. His slightly dark lips parting to reveal perfect teeth. "Now its time to start the day" he says, looking to the sky. The sky is a gray blue color, promising cold weather that he's not a big fan of. He hurries towards his home, hoping to get in before the cold comes. [/size]

As he walks along the path towards his home, his shoulders become visible and a few girls stop and stare in awe.Who's that boy? they seem to think, eyeing him appreciatively. He feels himself blush. The dark red coloring his otherwise pale cheeks, even though he's native, he looks very european. His arms, strong and sure, rest beside him, swinging slightly as he walks. He enjoys the fresh fall breeze that blows against his pale skin and he breathes in happily. I love fall he thinks as he walks.

His feet are silent on the paved walkway that leads to his home, a relatively small building with a small garden in the front and shutters that desprately need to be fixed but they can't afford it. He enters his house and is greeted by his mother. "What are you wearing" she shrieks, looking at his jeans and t-shirt, something he wore often but she dispised. He shrugs, not understanding why his mother made such a big deal out of what he wore, it wasn't like he was trying to impress anyone. His mother sighs. "I left something for you to wear up in your room, go change" she barks at him. He rolls his eyes but heads upstairs. [/size]

Feeling annoyed, Jay enters his room. He doesn't normally feel annoyed but this is an exception, he hates being told what to wear. He looks at the clothes his mother has put out for him and scowls, its a pair of dress pants and a dress shirt, obviously for going out that night Where could we possibly be going that would require me to wear this he wonders in annoyance. He pushes down the feelings of annoyance and focuses on happy thoughts. He loved his mother and she was good to him even though they weren't the richest, the fact that she had gone out of her way to get him something nice to wear proved that she loved him. Smiling, he changed quickly into the clothes and headed to the bathroom.

He looked in the mirror, styling his hair perfectly, before heading downstairs. His mother smiled at him and gushed about how handsome he looked. "Can I bring a book to entertain me?" he asked. He didn't like going to social gatherings because he was a socially awkward turtle when it came to talking to people. His mother sighed and nodded. Racing upstairs, Jay grabbed the book he was currently working on and hurried back downstairs.

The gathering that they were going to was held at a family friends house and was mostly for adults. He found a quiet corner, away from the crowd and plopped down, pulling out his book in the process. He flipped it open to where his bookmark was and began reading where he had left off. After a few minutes of reading, he was approached by a young girl, maybe a little younger than him, with green eyes and black hair. She looked at what he was reading and rolled her eyes. "Whats your name?" she asked. Jay felt his cheeks flame up. He wasn't good at talking to people which was one of his biggest weaknesses. "Umm....I'm uh Jay" he stuttered. She giggled. making him turn even brighter red. "Nice to meat you Jay, I'm Neera" she said between giggles. He tried to turn his attention back to his book but the girl was insistant. She wouldn't leave him alone. Finally, he sighed and looked up at her. "What would you like?" he asked, trying to be polite. "I was just trying to be nice to you cuz I thought you were lonely" she said, walking away and not looking back. He sighed. Ugh, why am I so bad at conversing with others he cursed himself. He went back to his book.

Finally, at around midnight, his mother came and found him. "There you are Jay, we've been looking all over for you. Your father is very disappointed with you because that little girl is you future wife" his mother said. Jay looked at her incredulosly. "That girl is suposed to be my WIFE!" he cried. His mother nodded. "No, there is no way I'm marrying her." he said, trying to keep his voice calm. "You don't have a choice. She was chosen for you a long time ago. You're just going to have to suck it up" his father said, coming up behind his mother. Jay looked at them dismayed. Without another word to either of his parents, he got up and left. Why did he have to marry that annoying girl? Well I guess I don't have much choice in the matter he thought bitterly. He hated having his choices taken away from him. He couldn't stand it. [/size]

Without thinking, Jay ran to the one place he knew he'd be safe; his best friend Nikole's house. He climbed up the tree that grew beside her tree and knocked on her window. She was still awake despite the time and came to the window. " Please help me Nikki, my parents want me to marry that annoying girl who goes to our school" He said, climbing into her room. She looked at him like she always did, with longing. "Oh Jay, how could they do that to you?" she asked, looking at him with shock. He nodded. "I don't know Nikki, but they did" He said. "You can stay here for the night if you want. My parents don't mind. They actually prefer you to most of my other friends." she said. He smiled at her warmly. "Thank you" he said. She nodded.

After changing into a pair of pj's that he kept at Nikole's house for times like this, they settled down into her bed. Jay was exhausted from his flight and climb. Nikki turned off her bedside lamp and curled up beside him. It felt nice to have her there, warm and comforting. It reminded him of when they were younger and used to sleep over at each others house more often. He missed those times. Now life was much more complicated. He remembered when his mother was a stay at home mom and his dad worked on the computer systems. He missed that and knew that there would be hell to pay when he went home. His parents didn't approve of Nikki anymore. They thought she was a bad influence on him but in reality, she was the nicest person he'd ever met. She kept his secrets and he kept hers. He'd even helped her through her first major breakup with some ass hole who broke her heart. Jay had beaten him up for her. Jay liked Nikki, he'd liked her ever since they'd started high school and he'd started to notice little things about her and gotten jealous when she'd talked to other guys. All this passed through his head just as he nodded off to sleep beside her.

When he awoke, he found that Nikki was gone. He heard the water running in the other room and figured that she was probably showering, waiting for him to wake up. He got up and looked at the clock beside her bed. It read 10:38 am. Wow, he'd slept in quite late. Outside, the weak autumn sunlight filtered through the puffs of cloud that floated across the sky. He heard the water turn off and waited for Nikki to come out. "Look away" she said, coming out of the washroom wrapped in a towel. He did as she asked and waited while she changed. Once she was done, he looked back to see her wearing a pair of trousers and a light t-shirt, typical of her. "Could you help me with my hair?" she asked. Her dark brown hair was wild around her shoulders. He took her brush and began to brush through the tangles carefully. Once he was done, she examined herself in the mirror for a moment before turning back to him. "Breakfast?" she asked. "Sounds good" he replied, following her downstairs.

Later that day, when he got home, he found that his parents were completely over his little hissy fit the day before. "Your not mad at me?" he asked incredulously. "Not at all. We should have asked you about it before we made the decision but what's done is done, lets move on. I'm sorry but you still have to marry her. I promise you'll like her once you get to know her." his mother said, trying to convince him. "But mom, I don't love her, I love someone else. I love Nikki" he said. His mother stared at him in shock.[/size]
