On this page I write my last confession

I still count this as writing even though its non-fiction
I started my work with Bella in Comm 100 the semester before last. I loved film and cinema already and I wanted to see what the basics of communication was. Plus, I needed it to fill one of my requirements. So I planned to kill two birds with one stone. The class taught me many things I didn't know before. Most of the history behind TV making was new to me and I didn't know too much about it before entering the class. Upon entering, I freaked because there was too much things I thought I needed to see. Well, that's when working with Bella independently came in. Seeing her after classes helped not only in getting to know her better as my professor, but she was very much help to me in explaining, it helped to make sure that I had my notes and stuff all right and that I was understanding everything okay and every week I met her after class at some designated time so that I could make sure I was not falling behind and I was doing everything that needed to be done.

Bella made sure my papers were printed out and I had a hard copy of everything that was given out. She found alternate methods to test what I knew and learned from class when the standard test she had set was not working for me. So I essentially learned the same materials but was just tested on it in different manners. Also, the book she had required for class ended up being very helpful to me, I'm the person that likes to go back to books and highlight and underline that helps the important information pop out and stick to my brain so, with Bella's dedication, my cooperation, the text, the print outs, and the alternate forms of testing I passed the class, not only did I pass the class I aced this class.

When I was at lunch one day, I met Bella. I remember that meeting because this was when I found out she taught another class on campus. I didn't know it then but this would become my second class with her. She told me to check it out one night to see how I could make out and I decided, forget checking it out but I wanted to enroll. I knew she would help me succeed no matter what the class required so long as I put in the effort necessary of course. I was right in choosing this class because again, I killed two birds with one stone, it was another one of those classes I liked to take, cinema and film making in general fascinated me and her previous class made me want to advance further. I also again, had a requirement to fill. So, I picked the class and decided that I would be just fine and peachy.

This class, I thought I would fail at first not because Bella was a bad teacher but because I couldn't keep up. This was until Bella came to my aid, as she had done before. We came up with a system that she would put these movies up in the library and I could go and watch them when I pleased, that way I didn't need to strain my eyes and I didn't have the danger of falling asleep because I couldn't see and engage in movies. This helped, I took my free time and went to the library to watch these movies sometimes alone, sometimes with a friend. I was again, blessed with Bella's dedication when she met with me time and again to help me understand what I saw and what I needed for the movies. By the time the second half of the semester came around, I unfortunately couldn't keep up and that was no one's fault but mine. Bella, came to my aid again. I still saw the movies but instead of being tested on them, I was tested on the same concepts and materials using a movie I had seen in the cinema. This was good news on three fronts. I could watch and rewatch the film as many time as necessary. I didn't have to deal with the black/white issue of the older films that was required because this film I had chosen was fairly modern and, this film was also fun to watch. For my final project to wrap this class up, Bella required me to use all of my lessons and go back to what I learned, she wanted me to break this movie down as much as I possibly could. After seeing it four times over, I finally got everything and wrote my final paper on the subject. She accepted that and thought that was good enough so, again I passed the class and learned from the course.

The gift I received from Bella, her knowledge and compassion I'd never forget. She was so helpful in her accommodations and she also tried to teach me that I had to have more confidence in myself. I loved both her courses and would recommend her to anyone at Penn State Abington no matter what major they planned to go into. I loved these courses and one thing's for certain, I'll never look at movies the same way again.
