Drowning In The Depths of the Salty Water {Open}

Town seemed quiet as I walked along, minding my own business. My feet were silent against the pavement as I walked towards the beach for a refreshing swim. I checked the sign on the beach and noticed that it said Caution, large waves and strong under currents, No swimming. He growled. "Of all the days, it has the be the time when I want to go swimming" I muttered under my breath as I went down to the beach. I wouldn't go swimming, I'd just enjoy the last of the sun. Thats when I heard a faint cry coming from the water. "Help, Help" a voice cried. I looked over the water and spotted a head bobbing in the waves. My gut told me to leave the person but my mind wouldn't let me leave someone to drown. Before I even knew what I was doing, I found myself plunging into the dark waves and swimming strongly out to the head.

The water was icy cold against my skin and the signs weren't kidding when they said there was a strong undercurrent. Taking a deep breath, I dove below the surface, trying to get to the figure as quickly as I could. Currents tugged at my body, threatening to take me but I kept swimming strongly. When I reached the figure, which I discovered was a girl, I grabbed onto her with one arm and used the other to propel us back to shore. Once safely on shore, I laid her onto the sand and looked at her for a moment. Her eyes were closed and her lips were blue. My first aid training kicked in and I started CPR on her, getting all the water out of her lungs first though. As she revived, I sat back, sweat pouring off me and my muscles screaming from the effort. "What the hell were you doing in the water?" I asked, my voice harsh with anger at the girls stupidity.

I looked at her in disbelief. "You honestly didn't see the sign thats like right there?" I asked. The sign was right in front of her. "You're lucky I'm a good swimmer or you would have died." I said maybe a bit too harshly. Maybe that a was a bit too harsh I thought to myself, feeling only slightly bad. "Look, just pay attention to the signs around you and don't go swimming if theres a sign telling you not to" I said, turning to leave. I walked along the beach towards the stairs and started walking up them. When I looked back, the girl who's life I'd just saved was staring at me and I couldn't help but turn back around and walk back. My peace keeper instincts told me that I should make sure she's going to be alright. I tried to hold my temper but found it hard because I was annoyed at her for having been too unaware to notice the sign. "Since I saved you, I guess it's my job to make sure you get home" I said, keeping a few paces away from her.

I looked at the girl. She couldn't have been older than me. I nodded in acknowledgement to her words and helped her to her feet. "So Where do you live?' I asked, starting back towards the stairs that led up to the district square. My pace was quick and I looked back to see if she was able to keep up. I hoped that her parents would teach her a lesson about swimming in the ocean when there are signs up saying no swimming. She certainly needed it or else she was more than likely to die because I wasn't going to be around the next time. "I should probably also warn you not to go swimming for a while and to get checked out for hypothermia" I said, looking at her. "I'm just doing my job, so don't think I'm doing it for you" I said possibly too harshly. I didn't even hear if she replied to my earlier question because I was focusing on the stairs under me. The rock perfectly carved out of the stone by the masters in district 2. "So, where do you live?" I asked again.

I heard her final remarks but decided to ignore it. She wasn't worth my time. I enterd my house and slammed the door behind me. She was so fricking stubborn. I kept telling myself that I had done the right thing by saving her but it didn't feel that great because she wasn't very greatful and that final remark stung. I grumbled under my breath and headed upstairs to the sanctuary of my room. It was a mini gym, the perfect thing for when I was in a bad mood. I started my usual stress workout and began to feel much better after a little while.

The next day, I had training. As I was walking towards the training center, I saw the girl again.
