Seth Brogan; D7 (Ready For Judgement)

My History is just that; a history. It is my past and for my past to be known, you must know my future. My future is whatever will happen within a moments notice. I take no direction from no one and I will defend my own thoughts on the matter. I may be just a 13 year old woodman's apprentice, but I'm hardly just a little boy anymore. I have my ways of doing things. I think for myself. I judge by myself. I am me. That's all I'll ever be.

District 7 - Apprentice Woodsman

Personality:

Seth is just your average young man at the age of 13. He's hard headed, stubborn and lacks the patients to listen to authority. He is still a kid and does the same stupid mistakes all kids make at that age. Naturally, he has it in his head that he knows all and doesn't need to listen or take directions for things in his life at present. He is determinded to take after his father one day and become the great woodsman that he is, but for now, Seth just wants more out of his life than the mundane life that has been delt to him.

As much as he loves being in the forest, he feels there is always more to explore. He is an adventurer at heart and uses that daily to take it upon himself to learn on his own; be it getting lost in the forest, mistaking poison ivy for leaves or learning the hard way about which way a tree falls; he's had to deal with all kinds of situations. In a way, because of his failure to listen and take advice, he has nothing to do but to learn from it. He's also full of pride. He hates to admit anything he does, right or wrong. The way people treat him for doing something right embarrasses him. If he wanted to get rewarded for good, then he wasn't suppose to do it and if he gets acknowledged for doing wrong, no one ever forgets it and holds it against him. It's a never ending battle for him.

Also, don't you dare tell him that he can't do something because he will damn sure try to do it whether he fails or not just to prove you wrong. He feels that he has to overcompensate for a male related disease of color blindness that he has. He hates to be considered different, so he doesn't like to tell anyone about it. As he has said before, "Wood is one color. It all cuts the same way. I don't have to worry about anything other than which way my blade goes."

Appearance:

Weighing in at just a mere 115 lbs, don't think of him as scrawny or weak. His arms may look thin but they are strong for him, constantly using his hatchet for his own personal fun and pleasure. His hands represent his father’s. Each finger is long and slender, but the only difference is that he has yet to work enough to gain the calluses from years of hard work and labor. He has light colored skin and blue grey eyes. As normal looking as his eyes are, Seth actually has the hereditary disease known among the male population as color blindness, or to be more exact, monochromacy. He is able to see mainly in grey scale. He can only guess what color things are by how light or dark an item is. His unkempt hair is his trademark, unless of course his mom makes him comb it out. He has dark, thick eyebrows which, against his fair skin, shows up and is the first thing you notice unless he grows out his bangs.

As for his style, he usually goes for the long sleeves most of the time. During the summer, he’ll sport a t-shirt but jeans are a must. Seth never wears shorts and as for matching his clothes or wearing certain colors, he usually just trusts his little sister with that chore since it doesn’t really make sense to him, seeing as he can tell the differences between blue and red. Seth can also be found wearing hiking boots or any type of work shoes at all times. There is not cheating this kid out of them.

HISTORY

I was born and raised right here in district 7 to my mom, Olive and my dad, Mizell. They are wonderful parents but sometimes I feel that they are a little too predictable. I mean, they’ve had the same jobs for my whole life and they do nothing but that. My dad is a woodsman, a great one might I add, and I am going to be following in his footsteps as soon as I can figure out what I really want to do in this district of mine. I have a little sister named, Rozlynn, she’s only 9 and she’s pretty cool. I guess for a little sister. She isn’t annoying or anything but I prefer that she leave me alone most of the time because all she wants me to do is play with her and she tries to get me to do makeovers with her. I really have no patience for that kind of stuff. When I was born, I was given special eyes. To see in grey scale. I don’t know why I was given this talent, but I call it a curse. I use it to my advantage. I don’t bug about my clothing color. That’s always a plus. As long as they fit and they look clean, I’ll wear it. I’m not hard to please, but in reality, I can never be satisfied. I’m always curious about what’s going on around me and I hate to be told what to do. There has been plenty of times that I needed to listen to the people around me, but then what is the fun of that. I just need to listen to my instincts and do things my way in order to be happy.

As I reached my 13ths birthday, I was given my job. A woodsman’s apprentice. That meant, that I had to be under my dad’s watchful eye. Again. There’s a fine line between being my dad and then being my mentor and teacher for work too. it’s a little too much. So, I have to admit, that I shirk some of my responsibilities just because I know my dad won’t do anything really bad to me or ground me but he teases me often about the peacekeepers were going to come and get me one of these days. As the weeks go by, I tend to believe him less and less. I do respect my dad for what he does, this tree cutting thing isn’t easy and I know it isn’t but I’m not sure if this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. So, as I undermine my responsibilities I have done a few stupid things in my life, like not listening to my dad about watching out for falling tree’s. I’ve had a few take me down to the ground before but nothing ever too serious other than a scratch or two. My dad calls me careless and I would have to agree with him, but I also call it being adventurous. Speaking of that, My second day in the area I begged to differ with him on the paths to take, so I chose my way and he chose his. Needless to say, I ended up getting lost for several hours and cost my dad’s timber team those precious hours of cutting in order to find me. It wasn’t my fault. I heard the guys talking about passing by a red flower bush and you would be close to the work site. Hello! Color blind guy here. So, they didn’t take it out on me too bad. Actually, I hated that they cut me a break. I deserved anything I got from them because if it were anyone else, they would have reprimanded for their stupidity. Instead, I was being treated special. That’s when I came up with my motto, "Wood is one color. It all cuts the same way." The guys on my dad’s timber team kinda like it but I’ve grown restless from it. Perhaps, one of these days, I’ll get to show what I’m really made of. One of these days, I’ll get to show my skills to everyone in this district. I’m a fighter. I never give up. Determination is my adrenaline.

On the other hand, I have a pretty good aim with my hatchet. Have you ever drove the blade of a hatchet into the rough bark of a eighty year old oak tree? I have! They are pretty sturdy, too. I have no use for darts or little sharp pointed knives, instead I go for the bigger blades (not a full size ax, of course) and still make my mark. Its one of my favorite past times. I really enjoy making games out of throwing the handheld blade. It’s not for sissies. My aim is the best there is in the whole district, I plan on showing that to everyone one day. Maybe a competition? Maybe make our own games out of throwing just to lighten the mood at night during a bonfire or something. On a side note, there is this girl, I like. She’s pretty cute. I think she has a really light auburn hair, as my sister says, but I just know that the curls are nice on her. I’ve known her since I was just a toddler. Maybe one day, I’ll get the nerves up to ask her out?
