My worn leather shoes beat against the cobblestone path through the market. I look at all the stalls that sell all the things I can't buy. My mind wanders to the birds in the trees. I love the mockinjays and they love mw. I could stand in the meadow and sing with them all day long. Their black and white wings beat the beat of my song and their wonderful voices carry any tune I give them. They don't do that for everybody. Only for people who have a voice and tune that they like. It is really hard to find somebody they like. But once in a blue moon, it happens. I can not express the love and gratitude I have for those birds. They are my entire life. Without them I think I would die. I have nothing else to live for.
Of course I have a family but they don't love me. Well, at least it doesn't seem like it. I don't realize Im still walking until I feel a body pressed against mine and then Im on the ground. I get back off, brush myself off, and look my assailant in the eyes.
"You need to watch where youre going."
