He wasn't there!

Windy grabbed her back and stepped farther away from the pits where the snow hadn't melted and sat on the edge of the drop off of white into black dirt. She gather snow up in her frost worn hands and slowly set it on her leg. Numbing- that's the best she could do right now.
While the snow took the bite of the pain away Windy thought about the canon- the question of "Who died" bounced around in her skull until she couldn't handle it anymore. Windy took her dagger (still in her hand) and unzipped her jacket, slipping her right arm out she cut away part of the sleeve and quickly slipped her bruised limb back into the jacket, zipping it up. Part of the snow had melted- maybe it cleaned the wound a bit?
Windy wrapped her wound in the sleeve, no to tightly though, but not too slack.
She needed to heal fast- so she could find Prenten and find him now.

Windy was still deciding what to do about her poor nose when the sky lit up and the anthem of Panem started to echo through the arena.
Windy swallowed hard- Prenten wouldn't be in it... would he?
The seal disappeared only to be replaced by a picture of the District 1 boy. It continued, no sign of Pickaxe- which meant he was still out there.
Pretty soon there was the boy from District 10, then Prenten flashed on the screen and the screen clicked off, leaving Windy in darkness.
Pickaxe is still alive, the blind boy from 12 surprisingly survived and Prenten- PRENTEN!
Windy jerked her face up to the sky again as if to make sure he was actually up there- however there was no denying it. Her one and only ally was dead.
Here she was left with no support- alone in the universe.
Windy felt like she had just been punched in the gut.
This was the games, she couldn't cry, curse the ground or anything normal people would do in this case. Windy had to get rid of this extra anger- she had to do something.
Windy stood up and paced in the snow making sure to sink her head on her shoulders so the camera couldn't pick up the troubled look on her face. She counted on her fingers- 8 dead. So many, so young.
For some reason the girl that used to work on her boat "The Mirage" popped in her head. The girl, Juanita, had long dark hair and darker skin. Her family was very old fashion and they followed traditions that dated back to before the country of Panem was even established.
On the last day of October, they had a party of sorts. Juanita called it "Day of the Dead." Basically it was a festival for all your dead relatives.
That's when Windy decided- she was going to have a party, a dead man's party. A party for Prenten- for her district partner for all the dead tributes in this game and the previous games- and the games to come.
Windy pulled her face up from the inside of her coat. A dead man's party- if you want a party there has to be music, right?
She listened to the night, some of the craters further into the field were spouting out smoke and making a sort of popping/rumbling noise.
Poof Poof Poof.
In her mind, Windy made up a rhythm and started to hum to it.
Okay she had a party with music- she needed dancing! Windy started to pace in tempo with the music and eventually started to spin in a circle, her face up to the sky.
"It'ss a party!!" She called out. "Who could ask for more? Leave your body at the door!!!"
She was taunting the sky with her words but she continued- the lines coming from some unknown part of her brain.
"Don't be afraid- of what you cannn'ttttt seeeee!!!" Windy fell to the ground from her emotional high. The entire country of Panem just say her spinning in a circle and singing to music they couldn't hear- she didn't care. This was her time to pay her respects to the tributes of the games.
Tomorrow- it would be all business.
