Rosa strolled through the streets of District One. It was a pool of duality; the district was renowned for it's Careers and luxury items, yet beneath it all, it was a cesspool of organized crime. Rosa loved it.

In addition, there were far less strange looking people in District One. Capitol fashion included wild tattoos, neon hair, and freakish surgeries. But even though District One was close to the Capitol, none of it's wild fashions migrated into it. People here were rich, but generally normal-looking.

Her stomach grumbling, she looked around for a mark. A young boy, probably about a decade younger than her, was walking down the street. Deciding he would do, she hurried forward and 'stumbled' into him, snatching his wallet from him as she went.

Some girl, obviously clumsy fell onto my chest while I was heading home from the gym.
"Hey watch it!" I snarled. I shove her off of me. My mind is racing, beat this klutz up or let her go with a warning. Then again that seemed pretty obvious. And look at her, horrible clothes. Faded and torn. Thief material. Wait... Thief? I slap my back-pocket.
"Thief! You dirty.." I roar. I am definitely going to beat her good for this!

Rosa smirked at the boy, amused by his aggressiveness.

"Oooh, scary Career gonna beat up the puny thief?" She asked mockingly. "So terrifying; have mercy!" And with that, she winked flirtatiously at him, turned, and ran, his wallet still in her hand. This was gonna be fun.

That dirty thief is getting away with my wallet! I couldn't use one of my knives.... That'd kill her and I would definitely have a couple Peacekeepers on my back for it...
"Hey!" I began to sprint after her... I needed something... A stick, a rock...something... I picked up a rock and hurled it at the girl, hoping it would hit it's mark. That wallet had about $190 in it, my gym card, my credit card and the only picture I had of my mother... Mum... Now I really needed that wallet.
"Hey!" I yelled. " Keep the money! Can I at least have my gym card and the picture of my mother?" I ask.
"She'd better stop..." I growled " Or I will use these.." I allowed a silver knife to slip into my hand....

Rosa smirked, then winced as a rock cracked her on the shoulder. Gritting her teeth, her heart and blood drowned out whatever he called out. She turned sharply into an alley and looked around quickly. Why was it that she always chose marks who gave her a good time?

A fire-escape, its ladder unaccessible, was directly to her left. Sizing up the distance, she backed up to the other side of the alley and ran, jumping and catching the edge of the fire-escape, pulling herself into the balcony, and looking at the wallet, safely out of harm's reach.

I watched the thief run into the ally behind Jackies Meat Shop.
" Dirty little... She won't even give me those?" I spat. I turned into the ally and watched her scuttle up the fire escape. I allow the silver knife handle to slide into his palm. He drew back and hurled it with deadly accuracy.
"I can't kill her. Scare her, maybe but not kill." The knife whizzed by her head and stuck in a crack beside the ladder.
"That'll do just fine..." I mutter.
"So, are you going to give me what I asked for?" I yell. She'd better or I'll really hurt her. Another blade slipped into my hand....

Rosa cursed violently as a knife landed right next to her head.

"So, are you going to give me what I asked for?"

"Hell's bells, Boy!" Rosa said, outraged. "I took your wallet, not your replacement kidney!" She sat down and opened the wallet. "Gym Membership... Junk." She threw it vaguely towards him. "Money.... Mine." She tucked those into her jacket. "Credit card... Junk." This she sent after the Gym Membership. Then she found something that rather startled her.

A picture of a young woman with blonde hair (like the boy's) and blue eyes (like the boy's). Years of looking at pictures of children's mothers as they described them to her told her this was his mother. And on the off-chance she was dead, which Rosa wouldn't find too terribly odd, all things considered, then she'd stolen one of probably very few pictures of this young man's dead mother.

She muttered a curse under her breath, too quiet for the boy to hear.

I ran to pick up my membership card and credit card. I looked back up to see the startled expression on the thieves face.
"So you found her, eh? yeah that's my mom. She died giving me life. You see that guy on the back of the picture. That's my dad. They owned a diamond refinery here. So you can keep the dough, just give me the picture. Okay?" I say calmly. I slide the remaining knife into its pocket and hurl a rock at the knife embedded in the wall. It strikes it and falls down. I pick it up.
"Ruined..." I growl. Well I can give it to dad for melting...

Rosa flinched as the rock smacked against the knife. "Psycho..." she muttered, tucking the picture back into wallet and tossing it back to the boy.

"Was the knife throwing completely necessary?" She asked peevishly. "Careers: Always showing off.

" Well, yeah. Kind of. I figured you would bolt for it. Sorry." I caught my wallet and put it back to my pocket.
" Listen, if your living on the street you can come to my place. We have a huge extension you could stay in. It wouldn't be a problem..." I say. At least she was nice enough to give me the wallet and picture back. I could at least do a good deed for the week....

Rosa snorted. "I'm not going to be your good deed of the week," she said disgustedly. (She knew exactly what he was thinking, Prenten. XD) "Don't insult me. Besides, I've got mouths to feed." She rolled her eyes and shook her head, muttering darkly, "Children. Don't have any respect for their elders anymore."

I shrug.
"Whatever. I'll be off. Try not to get caught next time." I say with a grin. I quickly dart out the alley-way and walk toward my house.
"Lousy, no good thieves..." I mutter. I didn't get that woman... First she robs me because she can't feed her kids and herself, then declines coming to a house filled with food and expensive items.... Oh well... forget it. I pull a nickel from my pocket and begin flipping it in my fingers. When I reach my house, the lights are off. I unlock the door and head inside. There's a note on the fridge.
"Sorry kid, work calls. Dinner in the oven. Love Mum" It read.
"Great.. I growled." Suddenly there was a clatter from the living room...
