Oreo's are yummy, but Oreo isn't? (Thundy)

Oreo felt disgruntled, as she stared at the several elevator doors. She didn't bother to move away from the main entrance of the building, because she was too wrapped up in her thoughts to notice where exactly she was standing. Instead of moving off to the side of the room to investigate the elevators, she stood there, right in front of the door where the lighting was best. Her expensive digital camera hung on a strap around her neck as she glared up at the potential photograph, but she wasn't sure how exactly she wanted the elevators to look. She had always admired them, because they were ornately decorated and fancy.

With a sigh, she picked the camera up off of her neck and twisted it around to face herself, and she snapped a photo just for the heck of it. When she turned the camera around again to view the photo, she saw her face clearly looking back at her. Her hair was the brightest shade of neon pink that was remotely possible, her eyes were an unnatural, crazy orange from the contacts that she wore, and clothing that would put the colors of a rainbow to shame. Everything about her was colorful, and she liked it that way. When she lifted up her head though, she saw someone who looked even more peculiar then herself. His clothes were covered in turquoise and yellow polka dots, his hair was spiked, and he wore turquoise makeup on his eyes and lips as well. Compared to herself, his look was even crazier. She was jealous for a small moment, but she dismissed the thought from her mind as she turned her attention back to the elevators, wondering how she would photograph them.

However, she was interrupted. Her orange gaze moved towards the person's face, only to see that it was the same person whom she had been observing before. Now he looked annoyed and slightly angry, and he sounded distressed as well. "Um, excuse me, but you are in my way. If you would stop looking at those stupid elevators, maybe I could make some progress, but I need to get past you before I do, and you seem to not be budging. So if I may ask, why are you looking maniacally at these elevators and why aren't you moving? Other people have things to do as well."

Oreo was slightly offended this, and her expression of surprise clearly showed how she felt about being talked to in such a rude way. Calm down, he's only in a hurry.. She told herself, not wanting to argue nor cause a problem. Nonetheless, there was that small part of her that hated to see people act so rude, and this part of her told her to stay where she was.

So, with a calm smile on her face, she replied, "I'm trying to be creative, if you would really like to know. Haven't your parents taught you any manners? It's polite to say "Please" if you really want me to move out of your way. So now, I think I'll just stand here and wait until I have enough muse to take this photograph, which might be a while. So, I hope your parents also taught you to be patient." She smiled wider, picking up her camera again.

At first while she was speaking, he seemed just aggravated and annoyed. He surely wanted her to move out of his way so that he could get past, but he had been so impolite about it. On most days she might have just moved out of his way so that she could he could walk by, despite his rude words, but today wasn't one of those days. The fact that she was having trouble coming up with a good photograph of the simple elevators was shortening her patience, and she didn't want to tolerate rude strangers. Once she had spoken however, she felt bad about what she had said. Even though he didn't seem to be hurt by her words, (she hadn't meant them to be hurtful at all, she was simply defending herself) he did seem to be embarrassed. Almost instantly his cheeks turned red, either from embarrassment or anxiousness because she had just slightly humiliated him. Most likely both, in fact.

Nonetheless, his reaction was just as she had wanted it to be. He was apologizing, and that's what she wanted. She wasn't quite so worried about the photograph anymore, but worried that a stranger could be so rude to her. A simple "Excuse me, could I get through the door, please?" or even a "Please move, I need to get by." would have been better. Thankfully he realized this mistake. "I'm extremely sorry, um, whatever your name is. I'm just in a rush as I didn't want to converse with any of the weirdos that are in this hotel. I understand that I need to be patient and things, but I just wasn't thinking properly, nor civilized."

He had done it again, been rude without thinking. Weirdos? Is that supposed to be comforting? To her, it sounded as if she was being called a weirdo. She might look crazy enough, with pink hair and orange contacts, and tattoos all over her arms, but she wasn't a weirdo.. was she? She was about to raise her eyebrows and say something else to defend herself, but he continued on and said something that took her completely off guard.

"So I was wondering, since my need for a good laugh has escaped my being, is there any way that I can help you with your photography? I don't know why I want to, but a weird feeling has rushed over me and I want to create some art. Oh, and my name's Mitch. Mitch Marx, just so ya' know." Completely surprised, Oreo raised her eyebrows and smiled. He was no longer being rude (at least, not yet) and when she looked at him, he looked absolutely serious. Most other people would laugh after a few moments and say "Ha! Just kidding, I don't like this art photography crap." But he didn't seem to be joking. She stared at him in shock for a few more moments until she finally nodded and registered what he had said. He really did want to help out, and he had introduced himself. The silence was awkward for a few seconds as she realized she had to introduce herself as well. Still in slight shock, she clumsily set the camera strap back around her neck and gathered up her courage to speak again.

"Hi, I guess. I'm Oreo Dutton, 'just so y'know'" She quoted him with a smile on her face again. She pulled the camera strap from around her neck and handed it to him cautiously. Maybe he just wanted to steal her camera? She hesitated for a moment, but realized that she knew his name and she knew what he looked like, so if he tried to run off and steal it, she could just have the Capitol authorities look for him. Even so, he didn't seem like the type to steal anything.

She handed him the camera, and asked in a calm voice, "I was going to take a photo of the elevators, don't ask why. If you have any bright ideas of how to take a good picture of them, be my guest. " This photo had been annoying her all day, because she wasn't able to make it look like she imagined. Something wasn't right, but she had no clue what it was. Then again, she didn't really believe that this random, hurried stranger (No, not a stranger. His name was Mitch) would do any better. But why not give it a shot? He might have some talent in photography.

One of the skills that Oreo had acquired over the years was the skill of being observant. She was never the kind to be completely outgoing and talkative, no matter how optimistic she was. She liked to keep to herself most often, but she did learn a lot by sitting back and being silent sometimes. She had always loved to watch people, to learn their behavior and how they act. She had a whole different perspective of the world then many others, and this is how she noted Mitch's surprised look when she told her name. It was very slight, but she noticed it. He raised his eyebrows some, seemingly accusing her with one look as most other people did. Usually she was criticized for her lack of ability to match colors, but never for her name. It was her name that she took the most pride in; she absolutely loved it. It was so different from all the other Capitol names, and she liked it that way. She loved to stand out in every way, and because of this she felt her pride wane by his one criticizing look. Immediately her eyes averted to the floor and her pale cheeks turned a reddish color. Very rarely did she let something like that get to her, but today in her disgruntled mood it pained her to see someone criticize her, even if the criticism wasn't voiced.

Trying to hide the hurt from her fake-colored eyes, she leaned against the wall, relaxing for a moment as she watched him take a few pictures. She had no clue if he had ever taken a photo before, or if he had even set his hands on a camera such as hers. It occurred to her that he might have absolutely no clue what he was doing and that it might be pointless to allow him to use her camera. It might just be wasted time, letting him help. Not that she had anywhere to go or much of anything to do, but she wanted to finish up these photos of the elevators so that she could move onto something a bit more exciting. The elevators were beautiful in their own way, but she was losing interest quickly, along with her muse. Along with her frustration and pain at being criticized, she wasn't in that great of a mood any longer.

When he finally finished taking the photos her patience had long since gone away, and she wore a frown on her face. Today was not one of her good days whatsoever. She was usually pleasant and nice, but all of the different factors had soured her mood and all she wanted to do was move on to some other object to focus her creativity on, if she had any muse left with her. When she took the camera from him however, she knew she was not that lucky. It was apparent that he had probably never taken a photography class, or if he had, he had failed it. While the photos were decent enough for a beginner, they were nothing that she wanted to keep. She was disappointed that she would have to keep taking pictures, and this must have shown clearly on her face. She looked up for a moment and saw a random passerby, who immediately looked at her and glared right back. Realizing her mistake she looked away from Mitch for a moment and tried to calm down, but failed when she tried to speak.

"Well... um... these are.. lovely." She did her best to try and hide her disappointment, but gave up and spoke the truth without thinking clearly. "I'm sorry, but these are just.. ugly. I don't need your help anymore, you obviously aren't that great of a photographer." Her disappointment and anger combined caused her voice to be harsh and extremely unlike her regular tone. Tired and hurt, she looked away from him and hoping as much as she could that he would just leave her to continue with her work.
