Abigail had just escaped the house. Currently, every Capitol TV was turned on, for the Hunger Games were in action. Abigail couldn't stand it. Abigail couldn't figure out how anyone could stand the games. They were frightening and gruesome. They weren't anything like the fairytales that Abigail read about, where there was always a happy ending. They were one continuous nightmare.
Seven year old Abigail had never snuck out before. It felt uncomfortable and rebellious, but it was so much better than watching people cheer for death. Abigail had just made it to the park. Of course, it was deserted. She gently sat on the golden swing and kicked her feet up into the air. Thoughts flew across her brain, and soon she dragged her feet on the ground and just sat motionless and lonely, knowing that she loved the Capitol, but also knowing that her very own neighbors, classmates, and even her parents, were her enemies.
Suddenly, a single word broke the silence.
Someone was calling her name.
