Quick History: Austin Friis and Ruby Carruthers anre running away to District 3 in order to find a cure to Sapphire Carruters sickness.

I cant believe I was back in District 3, the one place I vowed to never come back to. So all I could do was hold Rubys hand a bit tighter, and walk off the train, and into the station.

It is only a matter of time...

^{Ruby could feel Austin's apprehesion as they entered the station. Butterflies fluttered in her stomach. She was both nervous and excited.

Peacekeepers kept a close eye on them, watching closely. This was something Ruby knew how to get out of. Ruby approached a young Peacekeeper, smiling and fluttering her lashes.

"Oh, excuse me." Ruby said in her perfected Capitol accent. "I was wondering if you could direct my brother and me to the nearest hotel. I don't have time to mix with the quaint native folk of this district, you never know what you may catch." She moved closer to him, flipping her brown hair and smiling.

It worked. The boy escorted her and Austin through a VIP lounge, he was so flustered he forgot to even check their papers. Ruby kissed the boy on the cheek and thanked him after he pointed in the direction of the nearest hotel and wished her a good day.

"Works everytime." Ruby muttered to Austin, laughing.}

Well now I know what she is like when she isnt scared. And I cant help but admit that I like her sexy side.

"So, whats the plan now?"

^{"Well... you don't think me and my sister got the best clothing and food for nothing do you?" Ruby smiled. "The Peacekeepers in District 1 have a soft spot for a pretty face."

Ruby continued to walk, not sure on how long it would take for the other- less foolish- Peacekeepers to realise that two people had slipped through their rigorous checks.

"First, we need to trade those diamonds for money. Then, I'm hungry, lets get something to eat."}

"I agree, we need to sell these diamonds, but where? I don't see a Jeweler or Pawn shop anywhere..." But then I stop to think, "You dont mean The Black Market do you?" I looked at her, hoping she wasnt thinking it.

"oooh, im sure it will be." And it could also det us killed, I added in my head. But Ruby is just someone I have to listen to, so I take her hand, and start walking in the vague direction of the slums of District 3. There, we find a guard, and he lets us pass after we show him the diamond. And when were inside, it was not what I expected at all.

^{The black market was almost exactly the same as the one that Ruby had been to at home. People where bustling through the streets, every shop or stall had something to buy or sell. She didn't know where to start.

To her left, what looked like a jewel merchant stood calling out bargain prices for pure gold and diamond rings. He was the first person she approached.

"Hello missy, what can I do for ya?" The old man said, Ruby could barely see his yellow eyes under his thick, gey brows and layers of wrinkles.

"I would like to sell these." Ruby confidently pulled out the bag of diamonds and put them on the counter. The merchant's face lit up.

"Nice..." The man said, looking at each induvidual stone. "District 1 I see. How did you get hold of these? They are not hot are they?" He asked, obvious accusation in his voice.

"No, my parents own a jewellers that is going bust, I was sent here to sell some of the leftover merchandise so we can eat tonight." Ruby said, not wavering in her lie.

"Okay..." They agreed on a price, Ruby handed over the diamonds and politely thanked him for his business.

Walking away, Ruby saw a Peacekeeper enter the market. She grabbed Austin when she realised that the man wasn't just patrolling the streets.

"Run for it." Ruby shouted. Darting out of the market and into a backstreet.}

Why is it that every time I meet a cute girl, I end up running from the Peacekeepers? Seriously, this is like the third time this has happened, but the first time in The Black Market. So, anyways, Im running from the peacekeeper with Ruby in tow, when I see a little run down shack on the side of the road. So I pull Ruby towards it, and jump through the door, landing on the damp ground.

"Ok Ruby, enough adventure for one day?" I ask sarcastically. I sure as hell hope she says yes.

"Yes, I've had enough for today."

The shack was tiny, with only one room and a straw mat on the floor. It was made of wood that was half rotten and had no fireplace. The cupboards had some ancient tinned food in it, obviously from the Black market. It was still in date, so Ruby gave Austin a tin and took one for herself.

Outside, the sun was setting over the horizon. The shack quickly became freezing cold in the dropping temperature. Ruby shivered, her goosebumped skin turning blue. She moved closer to Austin for warmth, hoping he wouldn't reject her.}

It was getting colder, and Ruby nuzzled up yo me. I wrap my arms around her, and lay down on the straw mat, still with her in my arms. I kiss her jently on the lips, and say

"Im glad that was enough adventure, but tomorrow, id be glad to have another one"

Just so long as that day end like this one, I added in my head, and I was about to say it when I realized that she was fast asleep. So I took her advice, and soon I was sleeping to.

^{Ruby awoke dazed and confused on where she was. Slowly, everything came back to her. Austin lay asleep under her, she found she was draped across his chest. She got up, the sun filtered through the wood and glassless windows. It made a yellow haze to the small shack.

She bent and lightly kissed Austin on the forehead. She gently opened the shack door, which creaked loudly. She winced, glancing back at Austin, who was still sound asleep. Letting out a sigh, she quickly left the shack and the sleeping boy.

Breakfast was Ruby's aim. There must be a shop or stall that sold fresh food. She walked to the Black Market first, as it was the only place she knew the location of. There was no guard, which seemed odd to Ruby. She walked through the narrow alley that led to the market square.

The square looked bigger, considering it was completely empty. Ruby bit her lip. The Peacekeepers must have shut down the market. Ruby turned to leave, bumping straight into someone.

"Oh, I'm so sorry." She looked up into their eyes. Ruby didn't breathe. She was in BIG trouble- that was all she knew. Sapphire stared back at her, her brown eyes full of hate and satisfaction.}

I wake up, and the first thing I notice is that Ruby is gone. So I get up, leave the shack, and look around, and figure that she went back the th square. The first thing I notice is the silence. Yesterday it was so loud, I couldnt hear myself think, by now you could hear a pin drop. So I walk around, and what I see strikes me dumb. I see Sapphire staring Ruby dead in the eyes, with the kind of look that could kill. So I run up, grab Ruby, and run like hell in the other direction. I dont care that Sapphire is only 13, she could go into a fit of rage, and potentially kill us all.

All We Could Do Was Run.

^{It seemed like all Ruby had done for these past few days was run. This time it was from her own twin sister. It seemed almost ridiculous. Sapphire stood where she was as we ran away. She was laughing. It didn't make sense. Why didn't she ever follow us?

Her muscles were on fire, her breathing couldn't keep up with the energy her body needed to run so fast. Soon, they were far from the square, in a part of town Ruby was alien to.

"Now... where?" Ruby asked between gasps as she got her breath back.}
