OOC: Okay, it's a little late, but I was 600 miles away from the internet, so I just wanna have fun while at it. Plus, I'm bored.

I tried to calm myself down. Use the private time wisely while there're no cameras. Give my normal impression, right? Sarcastic humor, vigilant and outgoing personality. There was no way I could win with fights alone. I'd just have to show Panem just how tough my personality is.
And then there's Terry. Well, he has an award-winning smile. NO ONE can resist him. Maybe. But despite his much more ranged physical abilites, could he bring himself to kill? On his own behalf? Or, now that I think of it, mine?
I look over at him. Nerves were written all over him. Or maybe it was because I knew him too well. My stomach turns as he looks over at me too, to my surprise.
The Peacekeepers led us into a hallway, and started directing us in different directions. I panic, because I don't want him to go. Childish, right?
"Excuse me," I say before I can stop myself. "Could we share a room?" Terry looks back at me, surprised. My heart must've stopped, but I didn't care.
The Peacekeeper shrugs. "Whatever," he says, leading us into a beautifully furnished room. Very Baroque styles. Terry walks to a chair and sits down without a word. We'd both said goodbye to our families earlier. Now it was just a matter of who else would visit.

OOC: It's fun to RP with yourself!!

I didn't say anything when Fyuori asked for us to share a room. What was the point? We're going to kill each other anyways. I knew that if either of us had a chance it would probably be me. I simply have more experience. But I didn't want to think about having to kill her, cause no matter how much I don't really care I don't want to have her blood on my hands. Not a good way to repay someone.
Luckily, Fyuori got the hint and sat on the other side of the room. I didn't want to talk to her. At all. Our friendship, if that's what you wanna call it, ends here.
The door opens and in walk Patryck and Jaysi.
"Didja bring it?" I asked.
Jaysi smiled. "No duh," he said, handing me my token. A simple bottlecap on a string. Before I met any of my friends, I lived the ultimate poverty life. It seemed pointless to walk to school everyday if I were just going to be a ferry operater. That was when I first saw Fyuori. She was just the background, like everyone else was to me, waiting in a line to be ushered in some theater. Then the car came zooming, and I don't know how, but one moment I was going to die and the next I was by the gutter, wet but still intact with only a few scratches. Nobody noticed. After all, who'd care about some slum boy narrowly missing death?
I cut my wrist on a shard of glass. Somebody dumped an empty bottle here. I saw something glint in it and snatched it. A quarter!
When I get back up, I see Fyuori looking over her shoulder at me. Apparently she was the only one who noticed me. People were swarming past her to get the good seats, but she was lagging behind, still looking over her shoulder. Still too stunned to make any connections, I just walk away. When I reach a streetlamp I take out the quarter from my pocket. But it wasn't a quarter. Just a runnover bottlecap.
Maybe I'm doomed to die anyway, but I still had a chance. Before the tesserae, my brothers and I would go collect scrap metal to sell. Every thin wire was worth its money if you knew where to sell it. I was always ready to sell bottlecaps, but I kept this one. Not for some sentimental reason; what if my parents died and all the metal was gone? I'd have this bottlecap to sell for some money while we figure out what to do.
"You ready to show them, Terry?" Patryck asked, a grin on his face.
I grinned back. "Yeah!"
Then I make the mistake of looking past Patyrck and seeing Fyuori watching us. She holds my stare. And keeps holding it. I'm stunned she's even bothering now. For the first time ever, I break the stare by fiddling with the bottlecap.

Stare him down, I tell myself. Don't break down. Stare him down. And I win.
It nearly killed me. I couldn't believe I managed to not break my stare first. By now Patryck and Jaysi are looking at me, too. They weren't going to talk to me, I know they wouldn't. I'd looked after them for so long, but only now do I fully realize that they're grown, and they can make their own choices. I could no longer help them along. They had steady feet to walk with, and so did I. Right when my name was read from the Reaping bowl I'd turned them loose. They're on their own. They're on their own.
They never really worried about me when I was in a gloomy mood. They knew I'd snap right back to my vibrant self. I was left alone each time before, so now it stuns me when Patryck breaks the silence and says, "Fyuori, are you okay?"
I decided not to lie. It would be futile anyways. "No, I'm not. I'm f***ing pissed," I say, not bothering to hide my language.
"Yeah, you're fine," Jaysi says. "If you've got the nerve to cuss, then you're in a good mood."
I really wasn't, so I don't respond. After a few more moments of silence, the boys continue their conversation. A half-hour later, the Peacekeepers walk in and I don't hold back. I throw my biggest hug on Jaysi and Patryck.
"You boys take care, 'kay?" I say. "Love you guys."
"See ya, Fyuori," they say, but I think we all knew deep inside that I would never set eyes on them again.

Fyuori stood quietly next to Terry as they waited for the train. She'd ridden on one before, but his would be Terry's first time. Fyuori had decided long ago that Terry didn't want to talk to her anymore, now that they were enemies. And she was hurt by that fact. But then again, boys will be boys, she thought not for the first time, but much more darkly.
Terry looked in the hills to see the train coming. It was easy to ignore the cameras. He fiddled with the item in his pocket that Patryck and Jaysi slipped to him. They'd all pitched in and bought it: a silver cross, decorated with two small wings and a crown at the top. Terry peeled off a piece of scrap metal and wound it around the cross. It was curiously shaped like a snake, and he decided it would be a nice addition to the otherwise plain cross. They'd meant to save it as a present for Fyuori, but it seemed that she wouldn't make it until then. Since he would be the only one in contact with her, it was now Terry's job to give it to Fyuori as a token.
Although she probably already has one, he thought. She had plenty of fancy pendants to wear; he'd seen her wear each of them before. Decorated with jewels (synthetic, of course) and plated metal, they were almost her trademark symbol. How could some simple silver compare with those ornate jade beads and gold chains?
The train was coming fast, but he made up his mind before Fyuori would ignore him for good. She'd stuck out so much for him, and now he had to at least be brave enough to talk to her. If she were to die, he'd rather her die satisfied.
"Fyuori," he said, startling her. "Yes?" she answered.
"I-we-Patryck, Jaysi and I bought this for you," he said, handing her the pendant. The simple cross on a black leather cord. "We were going to give it to you next week after band contest, but...well..." He ran out of words to say.
Fyuori smiled. "Yes, there's been a slight change in plans," she said. He smiled back as she put her arm around his shoulder.
"Come on. We're going to the Capitol. There'll be amazing sights, and lets enjoy this while we can," she said when the train pullled up. She boarded first, and he noticed that she was already tying a know on the string behind her neck. Not a loose, adjustable one, but a regular knot.
"Yeah," he said following her. "Let's go!"
