The sun blazed down on her and she felt a bead of sweat slide down the back of her neck. Her cheeks flamed red and her breath came out in small gasps. Izabella’s gaze slowly rose up to the bright orange sun, her deep green eyes full of hatred and scrutiny. She ran her hand through her thick brown hair as she stared into the distance. Was it true that the sun was made up of the spirit of the old gods or was that a lie? Everything in her life seemed to be lies lately even all the things that left her father’s mouth, the man she adored, the man she looked up to. She felt a deep sense of hurt awaken in the depth of her heart and her face was filled with sadness and loneliness. Izabella heard the false words of her father echo in her mind, “You are one of the most beautiful girls in the district, no man deserves you.” She felt a harsh laugh rise to her lips and she mumbled, “Or you believe I’m ugly and I can’t handle myself.” Izabella had been a lonely child for many years, deprived of the chance to mingle with other kids and roll around in the dirt and she hated her mother for that, even though her father was the one who wouldn’t allow her to go outside.

“Mummy can I please go outside and play with the other kids outside,” her voice was high pitched and she short arms waved about madly with excitement. “I don’t want to stay inside. I’m bored.” Izabella’s mother green eyes filled with sympathy, eyes so much like her own. The slight shake of her head told Izabella to stop asking those ridiculous questions. Izabella reached out and gripped her mother’s hands in her small ones, looking into her eyes. “Please mum, pleases I never get to do anything.” The older woman’s eyes widened with a warning as she looked at the slim figure of Izabella’s father approach them. She couldn’t handle it anymore and Izabella sat on the ground and screamed and screamed as she watched her mother’s features filled with horror. “Izabella,” she scolded, “be quiet.” But it was too late her father reached them grabbed Izabella by the arm and started to drag her away into an isolated room, the little girls eyes widened with fear as she pleaded with her mum to help her. But her mother just stood there a sad look on her face as Izabella trailed after her father his fingers digging deep into her arm. Izabella shook her head harshly chasing away the horrible memory as she watched the young children run around squealing with joy. She didn’t blame her father for what happened to her but Izabella blamed her mother as she could’ve done something to stop this outrageous beating, but no she abandoned Izabella, leaving her to the terrible fate of her father’s beatings.

Izabella slumped down onto the curb, the path warm underneath her hands and all her energy drained from her body. She felt the sweet sting of tears bite the back of her eyes as she remembered those terrible bashing and the fact that her mother had the power to stop them but never didn’t. I wish I had a normal childhood and parents Izabella thought bitterly to herself, wiping away the tears that rolled down her cheeks. She blinked slowly waking up from her own problems, scanning the neighborhood around her. She felt a sense of mischief vibe through her body; a sly grin spreads over her face. She could imagine the look on her father’s face, disapproving and anger if he saw her with a guy. Izabella loved her father but sometimes felt a twinge of anger and annoyance towards him, for taking away her childhood. She tapped her lip thoughtfully as her mind spun with ideas and schemes but all she saw in her mind the was her father’s face and the love he has showed throughout the years. But the nagging she Izabella could also still feel the sting of the belt slashing across her face. Could she really do that to the loving father she always admired? Yes she thought bravely to herself, for once in my life I’m going to do something for myself.

Izabella walked through the streets looking for anyway she could defy her father. Many thoughts spun through her head and the plotting for her father’s downfall began. She finally stopped in front of a nice shop and eagerly entered the building, stepping out of the boiling sun into a cooler place. She sighed with happiness and sat gratefully down into a wooden chair. She leaned back against the chair the wood biting it her back. She found her eyes’ wondering to outside the glass was dirty and cracks crept around the outside. She felt an evil glint sparkle in her eyes, “I know what my dad hates most.” Izabella scrambled out of the shop and started to look around eagerly, looking for some vulnerable guy to seduce. With a radiant smile she set off down the street at a slow graceful pace, feeling the intense stares of her admirers.

Does, Says, Thinks, Accented, (Comments)

The day was hot, scalding even, as he walked down the street. (He was on his way to training and now he was beginning to wonder if he would be able to make it.) If he wasn't careful he might get sunstroke, or at least badly dehydrated. It was a shame he hadn't brought a drink with him, (and a bigger shame that he was cursing his own fear.) If he weren't scared of water then he could go for a swim, or at least a dip, and cool right off. Instead he just gazed restlessly at the beach and shifted further and further away from the waves that teased him. If only he were soaked in the cool waters of the ocean instead of the sticky, uncomfortable wetness of his sweat. But his mind wasn't going to let him get anywhere near those waves, not now not ever. Secretly, he didn't know if he really wanted to anyway.

As each wave rolled in, and sent spray streaking up the beach, he took first one step back then two steps forward before being driven back by the next one. He was moving slowly closer to the water, and he only caught himself when he stepped on the sand that was perpetually wet. Staring slightly at how far he had gotten, he backed away one slow step at a time while trying not to make it look like what it was. He didn't want people to see him running from the water, (the teasing was enough when he just wouldn't swim, but if they knew he was actually afraid...?) He would never hear the end of it.

Retreating further than he had been before, he did his best not to stumble as he walked backwards up the slope of the beach. It was difficult to keep himself from falling when the sand was dragging at his heels and he didn't know how high to lift his feet in order to clear each ridge. All too soon he felt himself tip backwards, (having not lifted his foot high enough over the sand and catching his heel on it.) He had two options right now, he realized, flail like an idiot and probably attract a lot of attention, or just fall and try to make it seem like he had just chosen to lie down. He would have chosen the second but his instinct kicked in and he flailed his arms around, trying to regain some sense of balance. (It was to no avail, though, he had waited too long and now he tumbled backwards to land in the sand.)

Flat on his back, he glared at the sky, (angry with himself for picking the wrong action to take.) He really looked like an idiot now, especially because he had just fallen anyway. Letting out a sharp, angry sigh he wondered if anyone cared enough to check if he was alright. He was, (but that just made it all the more annoying because then people would laugh at him.) They always laughed at him. Why did he always end up looking like an idiot whenever he came to the beach. He knew it was dangerous here, and he hated himself for being entranced by the water. This whole damned place is dangerous. If I don't watch it I might end up killing myself trying to walk around. Truthfully, he had nearly done so.

The sky overhead was as blue as the water that had so nearly caught him, (though the water had a more greenish colour to it.) There wasn't a single cloud that he could see and the heat of the sun wasn't compromised in any way as it beat down on his face, arms, and legs. It certainly was really hot today, and the heated sand at his back wasn't helping him feel any cooler. Too lazy to get up and find shade, however, he just lay there for a bit with his eyes closed. Perhaps the sand wasn't so bad, (it was nice to lay on,) but the water, he'd be sure to stay the hell away from that for now on.
