Mason felt sweat drip down his forehead and he wiped it away with the back of his hand. he was incredibly warm and didn't like it. The district hadn't seen any rain in weeks and he felt himself longing for the wetness that a storm would bring. He had the weeks leading up to the games off and was enjoying it with his girl-friend Gracie. In fact, he was off to meet her for a lunch date. He wasn't in a huge hurry as he didn't have to meet her until just after one and it was only 11:30 so he enjoyed the walk. The grass, which was normally lush and green in the park, was dry and brown, an unattractive color for grass to be in his opinion. He swatted away a mosquito as it landed on his bare arm but not before it had the chance to dine, leaving a bump that was itchy as all hell. He tried to resist the urge to scratch but after a few moments, the itchiness was almost unbearable. He growled under his breath and scratched feverishly at the damn thing. Stupid bug he thought, continuing to walk.

As he came down the street, he spotted his girl friend and his ex-girl friend conversing nearby. He hadn't thought the two of them would get along but there they were, having a normal conversation. He felt a blush creep over his cheeks as he remembered that Val still liked him even though they'd broken up about a month before. He decided to enter the conversation and smiled as he walked up to Gracie and wrapped his arms around her from behind. "Hey" he said, smiling. He nodded to Val.

He looked at Gracie as they headed to lunch and had a lot of fun just hanging out and talking. He felt kind of bad for Val because he hadn't meant to hurt her or anything, it just hadn't worked out. He sighed, thinking of Valerie kind of depressed him so he turned his attention to Gracie. They left the cafe and walked towards the park. Surprisingly, Val was there too. "Look who it is...Again" Gracie says looking up at him. He rolled his eyes as they walked past his ex and he put his arm around Gracie, slightly possessive but not enough to annoy her. He was slightly protective of his girl friends and Gracie was no exception. They continued walking along through the park enjoying the scenery.
