Rain splashed onto the sidewalk, drip drip drip, as he hurried through the shortcut towards Gracie's house. He was going for a visit, to keep her company on this rainy day. He pulled his hood closer to his head and continued on his way. His feet made a splashing sound as he walked through a puddle. At least it's not scorching hot anymore he thought, smiling. He didn't want it to be super hot, even though he liked Gracie when she didn't have to dress in something supper warm. He was a guy, of course he liked it when she dressed in anything, especially when she was dressed in warm weather clothing, shorts and t-shirts, they showed her off. Water dripped from his eyelashes as he hurried along.
He was almost to Gracies when he ran into his ex. He paused for a moment. "oh, Hey Val" he said, feeling slightly embarrased. He and Val had parted ways because he just hadn't felt much of a spark. They were silent for a few moments, normally, he wasn't awkward but at that moment, between the two of them there was an awkwardness that hung like a veil over them.
