At had killed him.

It had literally killed him. The pain that he felt expanded through-out his entire chest and it encompassed him completely. He pushed it down. He shoved that growing pain down and down, forcing it to the back of his mine and into that little corner where the rest of that pain was. Only now could he see how visibly big it had become. Parts were starting to leak out as cracks appeared everywhere around it. Dhaval Labinnac could feel those walls breaking, those carefully built walls that hide every ounce of emotions. He did not feel sadness, pain or worry; he burned those and shoved them away. He’d been doing it all his life. He could see what it was doing to him, it was all right there in front of him, and he refused to express those emotions. It was weakness. And yet he could sense that that time was coming to an end, with every new crack that appeared on that mental wall, it brought it all one stupid second closer. It was hard work pretending you did not care about anything at all. It would be hard work to keep that same emotionless face on his tight lips as he looked at Akasha. He knew, he knew with every honed in instinct he had, that she was going to die. Another stab of pain, and another step closer to the awful feelings of reality.

He didn’t like emotions. He didn’t like having to feel things and the prospect of having to scared him. It rubbed off some of that hard exterior he had wrapped around himself. He walked into the Justice Building, Muskox by his side. To his own surprise his heart rate increased with every step closer to the room where Akasha was. To the last place he would see her living and breathing; alive. That was killing him. Dhaval bit down hard on his lip, fighting back the uprising wall of fear. I will not break. He snapped to himself. The Peacekeeper’s greeted them with stern nods and a few harsh words. Dhaval glared at them, throwing all his fear into the one movement of anger. He hesitated when Muskox walked in, he could leave, and he could turn back and not have to see his older sister. He could walk out and not have that building fear grow larger and larger, but he couldn’t. He loved Akasha, she was his sister and his only other family member. And no matter what he had done or said he would never turn his back on her as much as it destroyed him on the inside.

“Dhaval. Muskox.....You came.” That was enough to make him stumble into the room. He stepped quickly over to his sister and picked her up, wrapping his arms around her. He buried his face into her neck, but he did not cry. Instead he clung to her, letting her warmth, letting her smell and her scent fill him and hold back that oncoming storm within him.
