It was amazing how much people could change in a day. Persia hadn't seen her family in years, but it was easy to see that things had gone downhill there. Everyone had been affected by... his death one way or another. They were all mourning their loss, and coping with their grief in different ways. And even if he had not entered that arena, and if the tributes hadn't all been drawn to him like moths to a light, it still would've been clear as day that there was trouble in paradise. Rifts between siblings, secrets to keep under wraps, relationships that were frowned upon, and more kids than you could count. It was clear that the Jays were losing control over their family. And now that he was dead, all hopes of getting back on track were lost. Because now the whole world knew Fawn Jay had been in a scandalous relationship with her cousin.

If the Jays were frowning upon the relationship between him and Fawn, imagine how they'd react if they found out her secret. And they weren't exactly on the best of terms, considering she had returned to them as a stranger, broken down their door and left some harsh words in her wake. She might as well be a criminal, someone who was despised and unwanted. Persia felt foolish for feeling like she would ever fit in with them again. The emotions she was trying to reject were coming crashing back like a tidal wave. Love, pity, sadness... she just didn't understand why she had to feel these things. It was so hard to feel strong nowadays... trouble in paradise indeed.

Liv's voice was replaying her head like a broken record. "Where are you going?" "Where are you going, Persia?" Half the time, she didn't know where she was going, or why she was leaving. She had no destination set in mind as she forced her arms through the sleeves of her black jacket. She just knew she wanted to break shit. Now. There was plenty of moonlight to waste, and Alivia certainly wouldn't miss her. Persia half-expected Liv to stop her again and ask where she was headed this time, but this time she was saluted with a forlorn blue gaze.

Persia stepped outside, greeted by a rush of humid air and the whir of a cicada's wings as it zipped past her face. She felt a bit overdressed in her cotton jacket and knee-high boots, a thin layer of sweat forming under her clothes. Stepping off of her porch, she quickly pulled her hood over her head and hurried down the street. Fine strands of auburn hair fell over her eyes, blurring her vision. There was no one around at this time of night; no one to witness what she was about to do. Looks like I'm in the- She suddenly found herself slamming into someone full speed, tripping over their feet and falling over. Shit.

Persia glared up at the other person, scowling. "What the fu-," she started, trailing off as their features began to come to light. "Wha... what are you doing out here?"

Mocking Jay was the last person she had expected to bump into after midnight.

Thinking Writing Says Hears Lyrics

The Jay house was in pure madness. The madness was a girl, a girl that Mocking didn't trust. That girl was Persia. Persia who had broken into the house by knocking the front door down. Who enters a house like that? Well apparently Persia does. Mocking sat out on the porch in a hoodie and a pair of baggy shorts. It was cold, but not too cold for Mocking at least. Mocking stared at the stars as he thought about the craziness of the Jay household.

One day, the family is whole and everything is peaceful. The next week or so, Jabber dies. Then like a few days later Persia comes breaking in for no apparent reason, except the fact that she claims to be a Jay cousin, but Mocking doesn't trust her. Who does Mocking trust? Mocking really doesn't trust anyone, well except maybe his older brother, but even then he has trust issues. No one knows why Mocking has trust issues, including himself. Maybe it was the fact that he gets hurt physically already and just doesn't want to get hurt emotionally, but he still has a heart. He cares for everyone, no matter the circumstances.

Mocking's eyes diverted from the streets of District 9 to the sky. Jabber was one of those stars. One of the stars in the ginormous sky of the fallen. Jabber was one of them, Mocking always liked to guess which star represented Jabber. Maybe it was the bright one to the right or maybe the far one to the left. Or maybe the brightest one in the sky. Mocking closed his eyes softly and begin to think a bit. Jabber if you can hear this, I just wanted to let you know. Fay is doing fine, the two older brothers are doing pretty good. I am doing ok, except for the fact that a Persia girl busted the door down, really weird by the way. The twins are coping somehow. I don't really know how Red is doing... and Violet, well she is doing ok I guess.. Well I miss you and I know the family misses you so, see ya later.

That's when Mocking's attention was dragged somewhere else by some footsteps. Mocking looked up to see Persia. He sighed in annoyance. Out of everyone he could see, it just had to be Persia at midnight. Her voice rang out, "What the fu-, Wha... what are you doing out here?" Mocking chuckled. He usually was one of the only people up at Midnight, well normally. Mocking just can't sleep well ever, not with Wess snoring and Stellar sleep talking about the numbers. Mocking stood up, the smallish hoodie clinging to his chest. Mocking crossed his arms and gave her a stern look. He spoke in a sarcastic tone, " Oh you know just fixing the door, that some random crazy broke down. What does it look like? obviously I am out here for some fresh air and to escape from the snoring and sleep talk that the older brothers caused. Now, the real question is, What the hell are you doing out here?"

Mocking was hoping for a silent night, but boy was he wrong. This night would be everything, but quiet. Mocking glared at Persia, trying to predict her next move. Something just wasn't right. Why would Persia be out at this time? Mocking wanted to find out for himself. Mocking stood in the way to exit the house. He definitely was Mocking Security, that's for sure.

I picked the absolute worst time to make my way back into the Jay family. Of course I decided to show my face during the reaping, which fate decided to turn against the Jay's and take one of them to there games. Now I should have been smarter then this. I could have slipped away in the hustle and bustle of it all and hide out for another 10 years. Nope. I decided to march my way up to them. Idiot. Now I know what you are thinking. Why not just slip away in the Jay family like you did before? How much I would love to do that? Sad thing is, it isn't that easy. I am not 7 years old. I am 17 years old and it's harder to escape unnoticed. Expecially when it comes to me.

I lay awake staring at the ceiling thinking about this. It was late and the crickets in the bushes outside my bedroom window were starting to really piss me off. I knew that a million questions were going threw the Jay families heads. Jabber was dead and they were mourning. Fawn was being an idiot. Crying all over the town, people feeling sorry for her, or her feeling sorry for herself. I don't think she understands that she wasn't the only one who lost something these games. I lost a cousin, her brothers and sisters lost a brother. Everyone looses something in the Games. It's the way they were designed.

After awhile, I just couldn't take it anymore. Laying in bed with no motivation to even try to sleep lead me to getting up very quietly. I slipped on a pair of jeans that squeezed a little too tight and an old tee shirt the color of blue to match my eyes. I silently slipped on shoes at my closes before I quietly tip toed down the hall trying not to wake my little brother who I could hear his heavy breathing through the door. My parents were sound asleep. When I sneak out I never have to worry about my parents. They are always out in a flick of the light. My brother was the one who will wake at a slightest sound. But if we walks up I lead him back to bed hoping he is too delirious to notice.

Securing the door behind me I shove my hands in my pockets on my jeans and glide down the steps out of the street light. If anyone saw me they wouldn't even hesitate to call my parents. The perks of being me. I walk down the side walk and kick a rock as I pass. As I walk I hear two people conversing. Oh shit. I duck into the shadows more so I can get a better look at who it is. I make out Mocking, my cousin and this girl named Persia, also my cousin. I like Persia. Last time I checked she knocked the door down in the Jay's house. She is a bitch and I instantly liked her for what she did.

I come out of the shadows and show myy face. "Fancy seeing you here."
