APPEARANCE: The first word that comes to mind when you look at Amber is elegant. Her face is fine-boned and oval-shaped, with a triangular jaw. Long, curly flame-colored hair sprouts out of her head and cascades down her back. Flaxen streaks are mixed in with the red strands of hair, making Amber's hair appear much lighter. Typically, Amber's hair is straightened and then curled to perfection, and countless hair products are used to keep the natural halo of frizz from showing.

A thick ring of bright copper encircles the inky black pupil of Amber's eye. The rest of her iris is colored gold-green. Her eyes are framed by light brown curly eyelashes. Above those pretty amber eyes, thin, straight coppery eyebrows grow. Amber has a very fair, rosy complexion. Since Amber doesn't spend much time in the sun, only a few freckles dot her skin. In texture, Amber's skin is soft, like a rose petal.

Her build is willowy—tall and lean. Amber carries her frame in a prideful, graceful way that radiates confidence. Amber's legs are long and lean-muscled, enabling her to take long strides while running. Her hands are thin and long, well muscled from throwing knives. Her aim is extremely accurate thanks to her training. Although Amber may be skilled with a knife, she is not strong enough to wield heavy weapons such as swords, but she can shoot arrows with a bow and throw spears.

Amber has a girly, innocent style of dress. She prefers not to go over the top like the people in the Capitol, but she loves to dress in expensive clothing. For everyday outfits, Amber will rock a pretty lacy dress or a satin blouse with a pair of skinny jeans. She prefers high-heeled shoes and boots over flats and sneakers. Amber is known for her thin gold ring with an amber center stone that she wears everyday. She almost always wears a red, belted trench coat when it's cold outside, which is another one of her signature fashion items.

Without makeup, Amber is not as beautiful as she is with makeup. Amber is average without makeup, and she can't bear to be average. She is never seen anywhere without makeup except for her house. Amber fills in her eyebrows to make them look fuller, wears foundation to cover up skin imperfections, blush, eyeshadow, and lipstick. She usually wears glossy ruby-red lipstick, but sometimes she wears a softer color.

PERSONALITY: When you first meet Amber, she seems like a sweet little angel. But no one is an angel, especially not Amber. She isn't sinister, but she isn't exactly good—who is? Amber is very stubborn and is quick to anger—she is a spitfire. Although she is stubborn and short-tempered, she is not arrogant nor is she ignorant. She can be very selfish sometimes, but she doesn't think that the world revolves around her. Amber is sarcastic, almost always. She is so sarcastic to the point that her voice typically sounds sarcastic, even when she's being serious.

Amber is insecure. But unlike most insecure people, she doesn't want to please other people and make them like her. Amber does not yearn for attention and admiration from others. She only cares about what she thinks of herself. She knows that she is pretty, but without makeup, she is plain. So to please herself, she wears makeup. Amber can't stand to be ordinary. She doesn't believe she is shallow, because she isn't trying to be beautiful to please anyone but herself. She is bold and couldn't possibly care less about other people's opinions. If she were to be insulted, she would just shake it off like it was nothing. And to her, it was nothing.

Amber bears the gift of compassion. Although she may be selfish, she cares deeply for other people. She is motherly, in a way. Amber holds pity for others, but she has no self-pity—there is nothing to pity herself about. Amber, although she may be a Career, believes the Hunger Games are barbaric and ridiculous. Amber would never volunteer as tribute, never in a million years. She is not afraid of dying, not anymore. She is afraid of winning. Amber doesn't believe that becoming victor is an honor, but more of a horror. In her eyes, victors are the shell of the person they once were. After the Games, no one is the same.

Not only that, but Amber isn't cruel at all. She could never bring herself to kill someone, and if she did, it would haunt her for life. Amber is afraid to share this with anyone, because she knows that the Capitol won't like that. She keeps these thoughts to herself. These thoughts are the only thing she would hide from her friends.

HISTORY: Amber was born on a warm summer day. She is an only child, leaving her with only her mother and father in the house. When she was young, she was very close to her parents. As she grew older, she became more independent, and the bond between she and her parents thinned. She spent more time with her friends than anyone else. When Amber turned ten, she started to go on daily runs, simply for enjoyment. For her, running was a stress reliever.

When Amber turned twelve, she started to train for the Hunger Games, like everyone else in her district. At first she was unsure about training. Amber was skittish around pointy objects. She was frustrated because she wasn't strong enough to fight with a sword, and her only advantage in fighting was her speed and her legs, which were strong from running. Slowly, she began to take a liking to knives. Amber's aim was poor at first, so she practiced with knives every day after her runs. Cramming in school, social time, running, and training was difficult for Amber. On her days off from school, her time was consumed by training. She barely had any time to run and spend time with her friends. She practically shut out the world.

Amber acted like it was her dream to go into the Hunger Games, but on the inside, she was terrified. The only reason why she trained was because she knew that if she was chosen for the Games, she would surely die. When she turned thirteen, her fear only got worse. She woke up screaming from nightmares about her death in the Games, her face projected in the sky of the arena while Panem's anthem played. Amber was determined to get better. Her training became more intense, and by this point she almost never talked to her friends or her parents.

Amber began to practice with a bow and arrow, to improve her aim, and so she could fight with more weapons. She still wasn't strong enough to fight with an axe or sword. She would also practice at home by drawing pictures of things or people she hated and taping them a pillow, and then threw knives at them.

By fourteen, Amber was lethal with a knife and skilled with a bow and arrow. Her fear of the Hunger Games ebbed away, and hatred for the Games replaced her fear, but a little fear remained. She knew she had a chance at winning, since her skills had greatly improved. She allowed herself to have some social time, and her schedule relaxed. She still trained often, but not as rigorously.

At fifteen, Amber graduated to throwing spears. This was harder than throwing knives, as it required more arm strength, but she managed to be successful in spear-throwing. Amber continues to pursue mastering spear-throwing to this day. That little bit of fear of the Games drives her to continue to train. Although she'd rather die than become a victor, Amber knows that she won't allow herself to die. She won't allow herself to die because she doesn't want to inflict pain on her loved ones. Amber doesn't want to riches or the fame. She just wants her parents to be happy, because she loves them.
