Cold hands pours hot tea as another layer of snow coated the Cold House. Winter was in full swing now, but the cold never bothered Sarita. It was spring she feared more. It brought all these beautiful nice flowers only to kill them when a chill blew through. At least winter could be counted on to remain constant. Besides, it was easier to hide her identity in coats and scarves than light, summer dresses. It used to be her mother that kept Sarita caged inside the Cold House, now it was the Wolfe family's reputation that kept the lock on her cage sealed. People recognized her from school, or the tribute family interviews. It was better to stay inside away from watchful eyes. However, blue eyes always found the window and the fence beyond it and longed to cross those boundaries. For now, however, she must comfort herself with tea.

A knock at the door nearly made the girl drop the tea pot onto the floor. Setting the fragile piece on the table, Sarita listened to Jeyne's voice through the door. Rajas said we should embrace every member of the Wolfe family now, since our numbers have been so drastically cut. Taking a breath, the girl opened the door.

"Come in, Jeyne. Would you like a cup of tea?"
