appearance

Curls the color of wheat in the morning sunlight used to swallow the boy whole as a child. He refused to cut it, claiming he had a large forehead and he didn't want anyone to notice it. It was true, his forehead was a bit wider than per the norm, and Quill learned at a very early age that anything that is different in the world gets treated as such: different, and in a bad way. His blue eyes lost faith in a better tomorrow like primary teeth, and by the time he was eleven, there wasn't any hope left in his heart.

He still has an easy, and rather attractive, smile and is more than willing to share it with anyone that'll give him the time to do so. He is short like his mother, and lean but still fit. He despises his small size because in his head, boys are supposed to be big and broad and strong and, according to his mother, he probably won't grow much more. However, he is still young, so he isn't quite finished just yet. He might not ever be as big as he'd like, but he'll be bigger than he is now.

After his mother remarried and they moved closer to the center of the town, it seemed their wealth more than doubled. Before, they had already been able to afford more than enough food to go around, but just by looking at the clothing Quill and his sister wear makes it evident that they are one of the more lucky families in One. His mother doesn't even like for him to wear the same clothing more than just a handful of times before giving it away to the less fortunate and digging her hands into Worant, his step father's pockets to get money for new clothing.

personality

Living life with a positive outlook on life in such a cold place is often hard to do, and that is precisely why Quill tries so hard to do it. He believes that if everyone gives up hope, nothing will ever be better, and while he doesn't truly believe he'll be the one to make a difference, he tells himself he does in order to keep himself sane. Quill is the type of person that needs positive reinforcement or he crumbles to pieces. His trainers all say it's his fatal flaw.

Despite being friendly, Quill has never been very good at actually making friends. He tends to spend most of his time around other careers, and since he is only barely good enough to be considered dangerous, they prefer acting like he isn't there. Because of this, he has taken an extreme liking to painting. In his room there, next to his window that is almost always open sits a lone easel, decorated with paints and pencils and paper and probably anything he could ever need. His mother gifts him every birthday with a new onslaught of materials, one of which i always a new sketchbook, which he never leaves the house without.

Easily manipulated, Quill has never liked to disappoint. He goes out of his way to please people he barely knows just in an attempt to save their opinion of him from souring. It's pitiful, really. He doesn't really even know who he is as a person because he is so willing to adapt to change for the satisfaction of others.

Quill is an extremely anxious person. Easily getting worked up, he finds it extremely hard
to calm down. When he really applies himself to any situation that requires immense focus he loses concentration all together. Because of this, he seems to be only half paying attention all of the time, part of him trapped inside his own mind too afraid to exercise itself. Painting seems to be the only thing that can reel him in and he would easily say it is his only saving grace.

history

Quill isn't entirely sure if the faces he recalls belonging to his father and older sister are real or only dreams. He was so young when his parents divorced that he barely remembers any of it at all. His mother has explained it to him at least a thousand times, but still it makes no sense. After the divorce, Quill and his sisters, Timmery and Karma, were all given the option of which parent they wanted to live with. Quill had always been a Momma's boy, and instantly chose her when even the mere thought of losing her crossed his mind. Timmery did the same, but Karma chose to go with their Dad. Now here is where it gets tricky for his scatter-brained self: shortly after, the two of them disappeared. Just like that, they were gone and they never came back.

Adoura was left with two children to raise and a hole in her heart that was once occupied by a third. Luckily, before they went completely broke, she met a man named Worant Grant, a wealthy man that eventually asked for her hand in marriage. Quill never saw the glimmer in his mother's eyes when she looked at the man, and he wondered if perhaps she had only said yes in order to secure a safe future for the children she still had.

Things got easier for them all after that. Quill quickly accepted the marriage, which couldn't be said for Timmery, but she did enjoy the financial benefits of it, and eventually caved in and realized it really was for the best. Quill was mainly excited for the idea of once again having a complete family, and in ways he got it. He had a man to look up to, to aspire to be like, but he could tell his mother wasn't happy. He could see the pain behind her smile, and he still can. He is too selfish to say anything though, too afraid of the idea of going back to such a fragile way of living. So he stays quiet. Always.
