It was rather surprising, stumbling upon the pair of pants that had floated up to her. They were rather…ostentatious, but they were of good material and Anni knew that they would be of some use. Struggling to put them on, she realized how annoyingly obvious they were, but it was easy to fix that—she only had to slip on her pants from the uniform and most of her the bright green color was concealed except for where the water had soaked the pants.

She was taken by surprise as she saw the animals. They looked like cats but at the same time…they weren’t. Her eyes narrowed as she tried to see if it would attack her or not. Like the tributes the arena, she didn’t trust any of their looks, but there was always the chance that it would not attack. Then, there would be no reason to go through another fight. But there was also the chance that they were vicious and would attack them without any provocation. Movement out of the corner of her eyes told her that they wouldn’t have a chance to find out as Ari went forward and attacked them. Well, this is going to be just great, she thought, the sarcasm drenching in her words. Knowing that they would most likely fight back, Anni didn’t take any chances as she followed Ari.

And missed. She was furious at herself, at her weapon, for failing her ally when he clearly needed backup. The animal that Ari had attacked looked like it was barely hanging on to its life—all she had to do was make a clear hit and it would have been dead, but she had missed. Gritting her teeth, she prepared herself for the retaliation.
