[Day 2] Epee Round 1: Millison vs. Pine, P.

After the standings first day of the decathlon, I wasn't holding my breath with that event. Instead I turn my attention to the epee, an event more than suitable for a trained career like me, in fact, the long metal sword in my hand seems to mold to my hand. As the matches occur around me, I practice a variety of lunges, jabs, and blocks. Épée is quicker and more violent then any of the varieties of fencing, and it will require all of my attention and focus.

I know that my attention span is equal to that of a child's, but I'm sure I can hold it long enough to win. (At least I hope I can) So as I step up to the mat I study the enemy, a girl with brown hair and chocolate eyes. I almost sigh, because I know that if by some miracle I loss this fight, my family is more than likely going to disown me. I close my eyes and take a deep breath. Then pull walk forward and get ready for the match.

The girl whose name I've already forgotten tosses a few polite words towards me. "Good luck to you," and it is so fucking obvious she couldn't give less of a shit. My eye twitches, so annoyed at these peoples hypocrisy.

"Don't bother humoring me. We both know you give a shit about me and I don't give a shit about you. So let's go." With that I turn around and take a final breath of preparation as I pull down the helmet, and am stunned as the girl already landed a hit. But I quickly lunge forward in a counter attack.

There once was an old aristocrat who whispered too loudly, and when I was young I had the misfortune of bumping into her. When I had reached the limit of my ability to make small talk, I turned away, and heard her whisper, "Told you retards are rude."  I spent that night crying staring at the grey ceiling and trying to identify what I've done to deserve this treatment. I decided on that night that I've done nothing, absolutely nothing to be demanded a retard.

However, this girl I'm dueling is blissfully unaware of my status, and has created a general dislike of me only because I've been an asshole. "What crawled up your ass? I wasn’t humoring you. It’s called being polite." I sigh, how can I be such a fucking idiot. Why do I always misread this people? Why am I always so stupid?

"I'm sorry. I'm just an idiot. I'm just a fucking idiot. Let me try this again." Her mask hides her face, but I hope it shows some kind of acceptance. "Good luck to you, too."

And then I attack.

A single hit before she steps back and says "Thank you, thats all I wanted to hear." And I know its time for the real competition. I refocus on my target, this girl in front of me. I grit my teeth and take a breathe. Time for the real thing.

She has already gotten me more then a few times, but I'm not going to be distracted anymore. I'm ready for this game and I do not plan on losing anything quiet yet.

"Alright, now we have a match going."

And with that I attack. Time to win for Ares.

I managed a to get a single tap then yanked back. I was falling apart. Everything was going to shit, she landed a series of hits, and her score was rising. I tried to focus but the it became harder and harder to stay on the task at hand. The girl was not speaking, and I had no planes to either. This was time to get this damn match over with.

I focus on the target before me, and only her white suit. Its time to hit anything that moved.

I know her win is only two points away. Two points and then I'm screwed. So I take a deep breath and try to get a series of hits that may let me get a lead. I have no clue what I'm gonna do after this lose. My family might kill me, at least I'm not losing to some one from District 1 or 4. Instead I get to lose to a girl from District 2.

What a treat.
