FOIL ROUND 2: BLACKMORE VS. SHOAL

Welcome to the Individual Foil tournament of the second Panem Olympic Games! The fencing strips are located within the Olympic Arena, with stands for spectators traveling from Districts One, Two, Four, and the Capitol to watch the competitors. Television cameras are set up around as well, to broadcast the event to anyone staying home as well as to the other districts who aren't as lucky and competent as you all! Please be sure you stretch and warm up with your coaches before you're called to the starting block, and remember, make your district proud!

The three fencing events (Epee, Sabre, and Foil) are tournaments, which follow brackets. Each match will have its own thread, which will be posted by me. Feel free to roleplay your character fencing their opponent for each touch and then paste the code [*roll range="1-4"] without the asterisk into your post and roll, as you would with a Hunger Games die. This corresponds to the number of points your competitor scored in a row, and will be added to your total. All fencing bouts go to fifteen touches and follow turn order, as a regular fight using the combat system would.

The competitor who reaches fifteen points first wins the bout and moves on to the next round. As the bouts finish, the winners will be recorded here; when all the first round bouts have been completed, the bracket will be updated and the next round will start.

Villain Shoal —

Villain was, for the most part, thrilled that he'd just made it through his first bout. It wasn't an easy victory, but it was still a win nonetheless and he hadn't expected much of anything out of himself. Anything from this point forward was a solid get for him. The reserved Career boy wasn't expecting to win the tournament or even medal, and yet he felt the pressure to perform, and to do well.

His opponent for this match was called Blackmore. Much like the Fray that Villain had defeated before this bout, the competitions were crawling with siblings or cousins or whoever else had that last name. With no siblings of his own, the District Four felt a twinge of jealousy - but he'd had enough parental figures growing up to more than make up for his small nuclear family.

He offered Blackmore a calm smile and a salute before taking his place on the strip.

ARAGORN BLACKMORE

Once again I am handed the pin like weapon, a cold wicked smile forming on my thin lips. My last match hand't turned out exactly the way I wanted it, my opponent moving around to much for my liking, always evading my attacks and giving me a few of his own. But in the end I had won. Of course I had won, it was not like someone of such a low standard would be able to beat me, Aragorn Blackmore. That would be a load of bat shit.

I walk into the stadium and I am told that a guy with the name Shoal was to be defeated by my hand today. I didn't expect much when I saw him so when he gives me a cal smile and salute I reply with a curt nod of the head and cold eyes.

Villain Shoal —

His opponent put two touches on the board for every one of Villain's. The Career from Four wasn't particularly surprised by this. That wasn't to say that he wasn't disappointed, however. He gritted his teeth and tried to keep himself from losing his head. It's just a game, it's just a game, he repeated, but somehow knowing that it didn't really matter made it worse rather than better.

I land four hits, my body moving fast, darting in and out like a mouse, never allowing the boy to have a chance to hit back-

The boy strikes. He strikes again and again and again and I am left with a snarl on my lips because my head had been growing big only to be popped by this guy ugly little needle. I couldn't allow this t happen. With a war cry I strike.

Villain Shoal —

Villain had to suppress a snicker at his opponent's obvious frustration at the District Four's four-touch streak. Even if Villain never took the tournament too seriously, he couldn't imagine getting quite so into the bout. Seriously — hollering and gnashing your teeth like it was the end of the world? Get real.

I strike once and the beep sounds. My smile is wicked and all I can think about is the thought of me winning- maybe that was why I didn't hear the next beep, causing my opponent to land another hit.

This was annoying. Al I wanted to do was win, to see how far this needle like weapon could take me. I could do it, after all I am Aragorn Blackmore.
