BOXING: ROUND 3

Welcome to the Boxing event of the second Panem Olympic Games! The boxing rings are located within the Olympic Arena, with stands for spectators traveling from Districts One, Two, Four, and the Capitol to watch the competitors. Television cameras are set up around as well, to broadcast the event to anyone staying home as well as to the other districts who aren't as lucky and competent as you all! Please be sure you stretch and warm up with your coaches before you're called to the starting block, and remember, make your district proud!

The boxing event is a tournament, which follows a bracket. Each match will occur on this thread. Feel free to roleplay your character boxing their opponent and then paste the code [*roll range="1-7"] without the asterisk into your post THREE TIMES and roll, as you would with a Hunger Games die. These numbers are added up to determine the winner of each match.

The competitor who scores higher than their opponent moves on to the next round, which will be posted on a new thread. As the boxers post, the winners will be recorded here; when all the first round matches have been completed, the bracket will be updated and the next round will start.

Brody didn't intend to go home without another.

District 2 liked these odds regardless of how today's matches went; with only one remaining competitor from another district, either way there would be a great deal of bragging and a lot of bets exchanged. For Brody, the quarry back home and any number of Peacekeepers would have their money on him; nobody back home at the quarry town would dare bet against him (at least not within earshot of his father).

He wasn't quite fortunate enough to be the one to knock the District 1 guy out of the running, but Brody wasn't going to complain; his current opponent was barely an adult, and though he certainly had the build of the career, this Lionel guy didn't stand a chance. He didn't have Nolan O'Rourke as a coach.

Once again, his opponent seemed hard to beat. Some how Lionel had gotten by with only his pride bruised, he some how managed to take down the boy and secure a spot in the next round, but now he faced an even larger competitor. Some Peacekeeper named Brody O'Rouke, why they allowed an official into this competition, he did not know, but he was sure as hell not gonna let him faze him.

The man stood tall, a worthy competitor, build like an ox and seemed to have an abundance of strength. Lionel was glad for his protective gloves and helmet to save him from any blows this man might land. As he stared down his competition he slowly developed a strategy that would prevent any real harm from falling onto him. His plan was to be light on his feet, avoid getting hit and he should be able to tire him out.

It was all mental, just blocking and jabbing, something he had spent years training for back at District 2. It was no more than a simple training exercise, except now the dummy can block and jab and hurt as well. And looking at this particular dummy, Lionel knew he was in for one hell of a fight.

Carver would have laughed if he allowed himself to do so in public. They were setting him up against another feeble opponent from district one. This Kendrick would fall like the rest of them. Carver had to wonder why he had never opted for hand to hand training before, because he had found his niche. He decided that after he crushed his final opponent the following day, that he'd have his gloves hung up next to the medal. And it would be easy. He was pretty sure that the peacekeeper competing had been knocked out the match before his. They are all just notches on my belt. The bell dinged.

And he struck.

Kendrick Draper

The harsh lights of the stadium make you cringe as you grudgingly get in the ring, nursing the stabbing pain that presses into your temple. There had been too much early celebration, but despite the way you sometimes complain you couldn't resist drinking with all your boys. One turned into three turned into seven, and now your stomach has a strange knot in it, tangling your insides like a cord, and the glare of the lights looks like the sun shooting rays straight into your skull. It's all you can do to raise your hands by your face as the bell starts, and you groan as the bell chimes to start the match.

Hopefully you'll stay awake through the whole thing.
