My heart is so full of sorrow. The look on Prism's face when I left... I know he's going to try to stay alive. I know he's going to fight as hard as he can, but I just can't wrap my head around the fact that only one will come out alive. There are twenty-three other kids that are going in the games and whose to say that something won't happen. Maybe I can ask that girl... the girl withe red hair? Won't she have some reason to keep him alive? Safe? Help him...out of the arena? What about a request? Surely, she won't be a hideous monster out to destroy a person.

"I'm selfish..." I mutter to myself. I walk to the end of the hallway and find myself sliding to the floor, curled up with my arms around my legs. I'm at my wits end to know what to do. What do I say to her? Hi. I"m Deja. Please don't kill my favorite person?

Why I, of all people, would come to visiting her on her reaping day?

She don't know me...

Then I hear a door slamming somewhere and it draws me out of my stupor and just like that, I push myself up from the wall and stand and just as a peacekeeper goes down the hallway opposite of me, I slip downward to the door and slip inside quickly.

"Umm..." I mutter, sudddenly afraid as I look to the girl and become afraid for my life. For some reason, I'm having a flashback when I look into her eyes. I don't know what I"m seeing, but it's putting a fear inside my body. She's become a puppet. She's become the next victim and I suddenly find myself unable to speak at all, but only just stare at her and then take a step backward to the door again. "I'm... I... i...."

What's happening? Only moments ago Dj was arranging a dance number with the group of friends she's grown to call family...now she's locked in a room and refusing to see any of them. Facing them just sounds like a bad idea, as if she's already committed to something and they might change her mind. Thing is, there was no options to begin with, and there's certainly no going back. She can only hope to see them again, but their last memories most definitely won't be of tears.

"I said no visitors." Dillon mumbles when she hears the faint sound of the door quietly opening, her eyes staying glued on the opposite wall before her. The awkward mutter behind her is no one of her friends though, and she knows even their rarest noises by heart. Her head turns to the side to see who this intruder is, only to discover her dreamlike state is never going to end.

The one to enter is best described as a younger version of herself, not that she'd know very well given her lack of pictures or mirrors. She fully turns around with slight interest in whose turned up. A complete stranger, and she may never know if she's just completely lost it and going schizophrenic. But that red hair and brightly colored eyes draw her like none other. The small redhead stutters, probably now confused of what she's doing here. Hope Dillon didn't completely scar her off with her rude introduction.

"Volunteer? I think it's too late for that." She sarcastically guesses in a sweet tone. If she is talking to her younger self, she doesn't want to be mean. As if she'd ever be rude to someone shorter then her, it's a rarity. "Just kidding, Sweetie. I'm glad someone like you wasn't chosen." A soft grin is directed her way to be more reassuring. "What are you doing in here?"

Walking, willingly, into that old room, I'll never understand why. The moment I see that girl standing there, looking at her - I feel instant guilt for wanting to do this. What motive will she have to help me keep someone else alive when she'll be pushign to keep her own self alive.

"I'm... I... i..." My voice feels foreign and it shows as the volume and tone starts to disappear and the girl is suddenly getting further away. Run, Deja. Get away before they make you the new volunteer... this girl obviously doesn't want any visitors.

Suddenly the girl turns around and stares at me dead on. Like I'm some sort of ghost and just like that, my back hits the door and I'm trapped. I'm stuck in here and forever going to waste away until the peacekeepers let me out or take me back to my prison. Again, I try to speak, but all that comes out are tiny noises that have no volume but my lips are moving.

"Volunteer? I think it's too late for that."

OH! Great... she thinks I'm going to taunt her or something. She's going to think the worst of me on top of the great request I'm going to ask her.

"I... I know... I'm sorry, ma'am." I say for some reason. I feel horrible for her being reaped. I feel bad for anyone to be reaped. But the words just seem to come out as an old remedy to being nice to someone older than me.

"What are you doing in here?" She asks and I shrug my shoulders at first. I still can't really contemplate as to why I'm still in here with someone I don't know. Looking at someone whose probably wishing it really was me despite her assurance about it not being me to be chosen for this horrible position.

"I came... I c...c...came to ask you a favor." My head is swimming, feeling like I'm about ready to just crumple to the ground. "I don't know you. I wish I did but I came to ask... your district partner... will you bring him back to me? I need him back so bad, miss. You have no idea... he saved my life not long ago... and I can't... I just can't see him die in front of me. If I c...c...c..." I stop suddenly because there is nothing but a severe fear wracking my body, causing my fingers to shake and my lips to continuously move without any more words to approach the surface.

Maybe this tiny Redhead has wandered in here by mistake. It'd be silly to think she wanted to visit a stranger, sentenced to a probable death, just because they share the same hair color. But who knows if every year the Tributes are visited by an array of guilty consciences. Seems like this youngster definitely has one, apologizing after Dj simply delivers a joke to try to lighten the mood. "Huh?" She questions, baffled by the addition of Ma'am at the end of her words. It's not like they can be that far apart.

She's not that old, as much as she'd love to be at this moment. Then she wouldn't be in her current circumstance.

But here they both are, and Dj finally voices her wonder to why she has this visitor. Takes a while to push through her stuttering, but she eventually gets across her reasoning. She wants Dj to personally make sure her friend gets back home safely. Does she not realize the consequences her request holds? That she's asking a complete stranger to give-up their own life, to save someone that's supposedly saved her. Dj bites down on her bottom lips, confused to no end, while Shorty's words stumble off again. How can she possibly promise to risk herself for a guy she hardly just met on stage?

"Honey...I hope your friend returns. But if he does, I won't be the one bringing him home. Only one person makes it out of the Arena." She tries to explain in a calm tone. Honestly, she'd rather not be thinking about any of this in the first place. Remain naive to everything that's about to happen. "I can't make any promises. I have no clue what's going to happen. I'm sorry, sweetie." It's the truth, and she's in no position to sugarcoat it.

Brilliant, Deja... keep going. Keep trying to be selfish. What if she has her own family. You are basically asking her to kill herself and save someone else. Don't she want to return, too? Why are you being so selfish...

I pitifully watch her lips as she parts them in order to speak to me. She starts to respond but there's a deafening heart beat that is pounding in my ears. Each thud reminds me of my own heart when I had that poison running through my system. How I could only listen to it and not respond. How I had to deal with it and let it lull me to sleep each time in hopes that the medicine would wear off before the next time they dosed me.

Since I'm no longer a prisoner, I can act upon the fear running through my body. I can act against those trying to do harm. Will this girl kill him simply because I want him to live?

I nod, as if I already know the rules to this stupid and pitiful game. It killed my only friend last year. Cadmen deserved to win and get out and save the rest of us from the clutches of those nasty people. At least that one girl, I can't remember her name, went in as well. She was killed and that made me feel like the karma came back to bite her in the butt good. This time, I don't want to see someone else I know die. I wish she understood me...

"I can't make any promises. I have no clue what's going to happen. I'm sorry, sweetie."

"You mean.. you won't tr...tr...try... to help... to help him? Please? I'm begging you. You have n..n..no clue what I went th..through before he saved me. I was tor..torchered and held captive. I was going to die until he found me." My voice suddenly finds volume. "He saved me!"

My heart breaks trying to understand why this girl isn't going to try her hardest to bring him home to me. So, my fingers latch on to this necklace from around my neck and I dislodge it from the connection and pass it over to her, the two sides dangling on either side of my hand.

"Take it. It's not much, but it's the one thing that I own that I love and have had since I was little. It's my good luck charm. It's my everything. I am giving it to you. Please... just keep him safe." I take two steps over to her and shove it in her hand then retreat to the door. "Just keep him safe..."
