I have short blond hair with long bangs that fall into my eyes which are a dark shade a blue. My skin is a pale white because I prefer to stay inside most of my days. I am five feet and four inches which my mom says is average. I do not pay attention to the other kids though. At school other kids pick on me because I am the one in class who never knows the answer when called on and the one never raises his hand. When I am called on by I teacher I am terrified and I end up stuttering out my answer, which is always wrong, as I try to grasp words which don't come close to me.

My eyes have dark circles under them from sleepless nights plagued by nightmares. The hands I own normally hang limp at my sides. Sometimes they twitch for a moment and sometimes they move to stack or line something up. Other than that they just always have a place at my side.

My mouth is always drooping slightly. I don't really feel as if I know how to make a smile. I see my parents smiling down at me and I feel as if I can't do the same. Instead of smiling back at them I turn away and line up my pencils in a row, look at them, and line them up again until they are perfectly straight.

Sometimes when I look up and see the faces of my parents smiling down at me, for a moment I don't realize it's them. It normally takes a while for me to recognize a face that I have seen before. It's scary because it feels as if everyone is a stranger to me. When I meet a new face I try to hide my own. I don't want to be near them. I feel as if they will do something bad to me and they are a threat.

I talk to my parent's, but rarely. Instead I prefer to draw pictures to express what I want to say. Drawing is easier than talking. Even though my hand shakes slightly from nervousness as it flows across a white page, it's better than saying words that feel meaningless to me.

Ever since I was little my parents thought something was wrong with me. They both wanted me to grow up and be geologists like themselves. I never raised my hands at all or gave them even the slightest hint of happiness when I was a baby. My face never showed any emotions until I was ten months old. I only started babbling like a baby when I was a full year old. I didn't say my first word until I was a year and a half old.

Since I lived in district five though my parents never had enough money to take me to an actual doctor to find out what was wrong with me. They always guessed that maybe I had some form of brain damage. They weren't what they called neur, um neurol, um neurologists. Even though they thought that, they didn't give me away to the peacekeepers because I was a waste on resources like most parents might have. They decided to care for me themselves. They gave me their food and their love even though I can't express my grat, um, gratitude.

When I started to go to school I was teased immediately for being different. I didn't have friends, I didn't have answers to problems, and I didn't talk at all to anyone. The only way I really speak to others though is through art. Instead of talking I would draw someone else a picture. To say I think that flower is beautiful, I maybe would draw the flower with sparkles around it. To say what I think I show. I have been teased for that.

Most people don't accept that this is me and they try to change me.

I don't want to accept it though, but I accept it.
